Union Berlin were beaten by bottom side Heidenheim, which proved to be the final straw for the hierarchy.‌The team sit 11th, but have not yet mathematically secured their top flight status. They are 11 points clear of the relegation zone and it would take a mammoth collapse for them to go down.‌Nevertheless they have turned to Eta to lead the team for the remainder of the season. She's been placed in interim charge with the 34-year-old already being announced as the manager of the women's team from the summer.Eta said: “Given the points gap in the lower half of the table, our place in the Bundesliga is not yet secure. I am delighted that the club has entrusted me with this challenging task. One of Union’s strengths has always been, and remains, the ability to pull together in such situations.
