George Michael's Faith jacket sells for £176,40042 minutes agoShareSaveAdd as preferred on GoogleDanny FullbrookGetty ImagesDetails of the jacket sold by Propstore match the one George Michael is seen wearing in photos taken during his 1988 Faith tour A jacket worn by George Michael in the music video for his 1987 hit Faith has sold for £176,400 at auction.It was among several pieces of music memorabilia being sold by Hertfordshire-based auction house Propstore, including a gold microphone used by Queen singer Freddie Mercury and one of the last autographs signed by John Lennon.The black leather biker jacket was made by London fashion brand La Rocka and worn by Michael during the early dates of his Faith tour in 1988.Propstore's music specialist Mark Hochman said the jacket had been purchased by "a fan" and would remain in the UK.It was customised by La Rocka designer Russell Tate, who was also from Hertfordshire, and features a red BSA logo on the back embellished with crystals.Propstore said when the jackets were first sold in La Rocka's London shop they were priced at £290.PA MediaGeorge Michael wore the jacket in his Faith music video and later on his tour in 1988Michael formed Wham! with Andrew Ridgeley, who he met when both attended Bushey Meads School in Hertfordshire.After years of worldwide success the duo split and Michael released his debut solo album, Faith, in 1987.In the music video for the title track the singer introduced a tougher rock-and-roll image as he played guitar while clad in aviator sunglasses, ripped blue jeans and the leather La Rocka jacket.In a January 2010 interview with People magazine, Michael said: "The whole 'Faith' image was all me. I came up with the leather jacket and everything else.
