A woman known for her "unfailing kindness" died following a medical emergency linked to heavy drinking, an inquest has found. Bethan Stanford, 34, was found dead on December 1 last year at her home in Cardiff . Pontypridd coroners' court heard Miss Stanford was a carer who lived in Rhiwbina. Coroner Andrew Morse said she had "a known history of alcohol dependency". The former bar worker was discovered by her uncle Stephen Mitchell after she had suffered a fatal brain injury linked to alcohol use. Mr Morse added: "Post-mortem examination along with toxicological analysis confirmed that Miss Stanford died as a result of alcoholic ketoacidosis." The NHS describes alcoholic ketoacidosis as "a rare sudden cause of death in patients with severe alcoholism". Mr Morse recorded a conclusion of alcohol-related death. In a tribute following Mis Stanford's death her family said: "Bethan passed away suddenly but peacefully at home aged 34 years. Beloved daughter of Ruth and the late Peter. Much loved sister of Sara and Rhys. A proud and devoted aunt to her nephews Otis and Laurie. "Beth will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her warmth, generosity, and unfailing kindness. Her gentle spirit and caring heart touched many lives and will never be forgotten." Get daily breaking news updates on your phone by joining our WhatsApp community here .
