GB News Daily Reflection — Tuesday 19th May 2026
In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we question why we make a regular habit of practice of prayer in your life.
"Why pray? Why incorporate prayer into your life in some way? Not mindfulness and not just throwing up a help when you're in trouble, but something deeper. Some people will point to the psychological benefits of prayer.
"Studies have found that regular prayer reduces stress and anxiety and generally helps us cope better in life. People who pray regularly describe a sense of comfortable companionship as they journey through life, a sense that somehow they're not alone.
"Christians think that prayer makes us more open to God, to ourselves, and to others. Prayer doesn't detach us from the world, but brings us and our world into the loving presence of God.
"When Jesus said, watch and pray, he was inviting us to take a posture of deep openness to God, ourselves, and others. Mother Teresa put it this way. I used to think that prayer changes the world. Now I realise that prayer changes me and I change the world. As Jesus said, watch and pray."
