GB News Daily Reflection — Tuesday 14th July 2026

In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we look at how we've slightly given up on the idea that we should have any values when it comes to our relationships.

"Is there a Christian way to think about relationships that isn't oppressive and might actually be good for us and each other?

"Jesus boiled all of his teaching down to two ideas. Love God and love your neighbour as you love yourself. Love of others is supposed to be the evidence of love of God.

"So what if a partner or a spouse, a significant other, is the first person in our lives that we are supposed to love as we love ourselves not more than we love ourselves? That's co-dependency, but not less than we love ourselves. That's exploitation.

"But what if our closest, most intimate relationships are the first place we learn to live the way of Jesus, where we learn to love God by loving the person in front of us as we love ourselves? That's the historic Christian perspective on relationships, and I think it still stands up pretty well today."
