In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we remember that the Christian faith does not promise a life free from storms, but it does offer this assurance - when the storms come, God cares, and for his people he is on the boat with them.
"Life is rarely easy, and once in a while we face storms that threaten to overwhelm us.
"The husband holding his wife's hand in the cancer ward, the teenager flattened by depression, wondering if I'll ever be me again. These are storms that toss our souls to and fro and where we feel like we've lost control.
"Jesus's disciples knew that feeling well. One night they found themselves crossing the Sea of Galilee when a violent storm blew up. The waves crashed onto the small fishing boat, and even experienced fishermen feared for their lives. Meanwhile, Jesus was asleep.
"And perhaps that's the detail that most strikes us, because sometimes faith feels exactly like that. We cry out for help, and we wonder whether God has even noticed. It's like he's asleep.
"And when Jesus wakes, the disciples ask a question that many of us have asked in one form or another."
