GB News Daily Reflection - Saturday 30th May 2026
In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we explore the biblical idea of “fearing God”, suggesting that it refers not to terror but to awe and reverence for a God who is both immensely powerful and deeply caring.
This lesson encourages believers to trust him with their anxieties rather than retreat from him.
“We want a God who reassures us, comforts us, surely. But the Bible does something interesting. It holds together two things that we don't usually see side by side.
“It speaks about God's mighty hand, his awesome power, a power we might fear. And in the very same breath, it says, cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
“It says he's both frighteningly powerful and deeply caring. That's often not how things work in life. Often, the people who have the power don't really care about you and me, and those who do care may not have the power to help.
“But the Bible says God is both powerful and caring. When it talks about God's people fearing him, it's the sort of fear we might feel when we're about to meet someone very famous that we deeply admire.
“The heart races, the knees shake, not because we're anticipating they might harm us, but because we're in awe of them.
“The Bible says that God is awe-inspiring and powerful, but also that he cares for his people and takes them together.
“That's not a reason to move away from him, but to draw close to him. Cast all your anxiety on him, the Bible says, because he cares for you.”
