GB News Daily Reflection — Saturday 23rd May 2026
In today's GB News Daily Reflection on Pentecost, we remember how the followers of Jesus Christ were transformed by the arrival of the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter two.
They turned fear into courage and uncertainty into boldness, while presenting God’s presence as something offered not just to a select few but to ordinary people everywhere.
“There's a moment in the Bible in Acts chapter two, where a group of Jesus followers are gathered in a room. They are not entirely sure about what's coming next.
“They've just lost the person they were following, Jesus himself, and are waiting. They are uncertain, longing, praying, maybe even a bit stuck.
“At this point, Jesus has ascended into heaven, and they're left with a promise. Wait for the power from God, and then it happens.
“They see strange phenomena of what appears to be fire and people speaking in different languages. But the real change isn't what they see, but what happens inside of them.
“Fear turns into courage, silence into boldness, confusion into clarity. And there is this connection between each other and between the people and God.
“Pentecost isn't about wind or fire. It's about God's presence. It's the moment when the Spirit of God comes close, no longer reserved for a few people, but given to ordinary people and to everyone.
“Pentecost points to a God who is alive and yet powerful, and it's an invitation for ordinary people to ask God to reveal himself to us.”
