GB News Daily Reflection — Monday 18th May 2026
المصدر: GB News | Source: GB NewsIn today's GB News Daily Reflection, we compare the long accumulation of wealth through patience utilised by legendary trader Warren Buffett with the values of waiting and trust over instant gratification in Christianity.
The disciples of Jesus Christ ultimately received the far greater reward of God’s presence and power after patiently awaiting the fulfilment of his promises.
"For Warren Buffett, a lot of waiting and a lot of patience led to great wealth. In our modern times, we expect instant replies to our messages, instant fixes, instant results, instant gratification. We want the world and we want it now, as sung by Jim Morrison.
"Within the Christian faith, the best thing came with some waiting. Shortly after Jesus returned to it to heaven, his followers had to wait for the best gift God could give them.
"Now this waiting involved being still rather than been an empty gap in time. Waiting is a period of trusting in God's sovereign rule, eagerly expecting him to fulfill his promises.
"Those early followers waited patiently and received something more valuable than all the money in the world. God's very presence and power in the Holy Spirit."
