In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we consider humanity’s instinctive desire for justice reflects a deeper longing for a world where wrongs are made right.

Jesus Christ both judges injustice and offers mercy by taking upon himself the punishment deserved by others through his death on the cross.

“Whether it's corruption, unjust wars, or simply being treated badly at work, there's something deep within us that longs for justice.

“We don't want to live in a world where the powerful can simply do as they please and get away with it.

“The Christian faith says that this longing is not naive. One day Christ will return to judge the living and the dead, and on that day every wrong will be righted, and every injustice will be answered. The world will finally be put right.

“But there's a problem I see when I demand justice. I usually think of the things that other people have done, and less of the ways that I've been unfair, that I've wounded others, that I've acted unselfishly. And so how can God's justice be good news for me? Well, the Bible claims that the judge stepped into the dock in our place at the cross.

“Christ took the punishment that we deserved so that justice is satisfied. But mercy can be freely given to all who will receive it.”
