Gavin Newsom's former mistress says they first had sex after she wore white to friend's wedding and that she ripped every button on his shirt off during passionate hotel encounter

By EMMA RICHTER, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 16:41, 28 July 2026 | Updated: 16:56, 28 July 2026 Gavin Newsom's former mistress said she and her ex-boss first had sex after she wore a white dress to their friend's wedding and ripped every single one of his shirt buttons off during a steamy hotel encounter, she revealed in a new tell-all.  Ruby Rippey Gibney, the staffer who had an affair with the governor of California in 2007 when he was the mayor of San Francisco, left very little to the imagination in a detailed rundown of their relationship in a Vanity Fair piece published on Tuesday.  In it, Rippey, 51, provided readers with a timeline of how the two came to know each other and when their physical relationship first bloomed.  The two of them attended a wedding on July 2, 2005, where Rippey donned a strapless white dress to a City Hall staffer's nuptials - despite her mother's disapproval with her outfit choice.  During the event, she and her now ex-husband and Newsom's former deputy chief of staff, Alex Tourk, mingled with their colleagues as she downed champagne and wine while her dinner 'went untouched,' Rippey detailed.  She soon ended up in a hallway with Newsom as the two of them waited for the bathroom, and later in the night, they met again at a hot tub.  The rest of the evening was described as a blur to Rippey, but she said all encounters with Newsom were consensual, even the ones she was too drunk to remember. I am cold, almost shivering, and my dress—the one my mother warned me not to wear—is soaked from the waist down. I had passed out. I had also wet the bed.
