He cycled nearly 100 kilometres every day, worked 16-hour shifts and battled mounting debt—until an accident left him bedridden. What followed changed his life forever.Sometimes, life's biggest setbacks create opportunities that were never part of the original plan. For Ajit Kumar, a road accident that ended his livelihood eventually led him to discover a talent that would make him one of India's most successful audio-fiction writers.Today, the former delivery rider has written over 1,000 episodes of Pocket FM's blockbuster series Brahmyodha: The Destroyer, which has crossed 16.8 crore plays. His remarkable journey from financial distress to becoming a creator earning over Rs 1 crore has inspired thousands across the country.Medical dreams paused, family responsibilities came firstOriginally from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, Ajit had hoped to complete his medical studies. However, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted his family's livelihood, leaving them burdened with loans reportedly amounting to around Rs 7 lakh. Unable to continue his education, he decided to earn instead.He joined as a Swiggy delivery partner in Faridabad, cycling nearly 100 kilometres on some days and working up to 16 hours daily to help repay the family's debt. Every delivery brought him one step closer to supporting his parents and keeping hope alive.One accident changed everythingJust when life seemed difficult enough, tragedy struck.Ajit met with a serious road accident that left him with multiple fractures and confined him to bed for months. With no source of income and loans still hanging over the family, the future looked uncertain.While recovering, he began searching for work-from-home opportunities and came across a writing position at Pocket FM. Although storytelling had never been his full-time profession, he decided to take a chance.That decision became the turning point of his career.From a Rs 20,000 payout to becoming a bestselling writerAjit began writing from his hospital bed, often producing multiple episodes in a single day. Within three months, one of his stories topped a Pocket FM writing contest.His first payment of Rs 20,000 went straight to his mother. The following month, he earned Rs 52,000. As his stories gained popularity, his income increased rapidly, with one monthly payout reportedly touching Rs 6.29 lakh before growing even further.Today, Ajit serves as the lead writer of Brahmyodha: The Destroyer, one of Pocket FM's most popular audio-fiction series. Having written more than 1,000 episodes, he has helped build a story that has attracted millions of listeners.
