French AI Deputy Minister Anne Le Henanff to Attend GITEX Africa 2026
Rabat – French Deputy Minister in charge of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, Anne Le Henanff, is set to visit Morocco today to attend GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, a French diplomatic source confirmed to Morocco World News (MWN).
GITEX Africa 2026 will kick off on Tuesday, bringing together exhibitors, visitors, and participants from more than 145 countries.
The theme for this year’s event is “Catalyzing Africa’s Digital Economy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” bringing together top technology stakeholders to explore ways to build responsible AI infrastructures.
Reports cited a statement from the French ministry in charge of digital affairs, confirming Le Hennaff’s visit to Morocco.
The minister’s office described this year’s GITEX Africa as a “major tech event on the African continent”, with the visit allowing the minister to “highlight the presence of dynamism of the French technology ecosystem in Morocco.”
The presence also seeks to showcase “the French-Moroccan partnerships in the digital field,” emphasizing that the event is bringing together key players in different sectors, including innovation and digital technologies.
The French deputy minister will attend the official opening ceremony with a panel titled “Redefining Society in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” as well as a conference on AI and Cybersecurity organized by French Tech Casablanca and ChapsVision.
GITEX Africa 2026, running until April 9, is expected to attract more than 55,000 attendees, featuring more than 1,800 exhibitors and over 800 startups.
The Digital Development Agency (ADD) and KAOUN International, a subsidiary of the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), are organizing the event in partnership with Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
In February, CEO of GITEX Africa Morocco Trixie LohMirmand emphasized that this year’s edition goal is to go beyond dialogue and fully embrace the era of “concrete execution.”
“By placing this edition under the banner of responsible Artificial Intelligence, we are establishing a reference platform where international innovation engages with African sovereignty,” LohMirmand further explained.
