Four unconnected motorists have been convicted after giving police the details of a man who died in 2001 to try to avoid prosecution for driving offences.
Two men and two women were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court between August 5 and 7 for using a dead man's identity in five separate incidents between July 2020 and April 2024.
The offences included speeding and going through a red-light camera, but were subsequently caught out by West Yorkshire Police.
Sarah Hanif, from Great Russell Street in Bradford, was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, while also being required to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
Ms Hanif admitted to naming the dead man as the driver after her car was caught by a red-light camera on the A58 at Clay Pit Lane, Leeds, on July 16, 2020.
Meanwhile, Ajmal Khan, from Middleton Crescent in Leeds, was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
He admitted to giving the dead man's details after his vehicle was caught travelling at 60mph in a 40mph zone on Stanningley Road on September 6, 2020.
Both Ms Hanif and Mr Khan were convicted of acts intended to pervert the course of public justice.
Shahad Aljammoor, from Carr Bottom Avenue in Bradford, received the longest sentence. She was given 15 months in prison, suspended for two years, after being found guilty of two counts of perverting the course of justice.
Her silver BMW X5 was recorded travelling at 64mph in a 50mph zone on July 2, 2022. Almost two years later, on April 21, 2024, a red Audi A3 she was driving was caught by a speed camera on New York Road in Leeds at 50mph in a 40mph zone.
Naheed Razaq, from Avenel Terrace in Bradford, was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended, after admitting that he had used the dead man's details.
Mr Razaq's Mercedes C250 had been caught travelling at 80mph on the northbound M1 on December 13, 2020.

The deception was discovered when officers tried to find the person whose details had been given by all four motorists.
Police found that the man had actually died in 2001, meaning he could not have been driving any of the vehicles involved in offences between 2020 and 2024.
Although the four cases happened over nearly four years and involved people who appeared to have no connection with each other, investigators were able to link them because they had all used the same deceased man's identity.
What started as routine motoring offences then became serious criminal cases involving perverting the course of justice.
Rachel Wainwright, from the Digital Submission and Investigation Team, said: "We welcome the sentencing of all four of these people who attempted to blame a deceased man to try and escape justice for offences committed in their vehicles."
She described their actions as "really shameful offending" and said they had wasted "valuable time and resources" through their dishonesty. "Instead, all have been brought to justice for their deceit," she added.
Ms Wainwright said the team has strong experience in finding people who try to avoid prosecution for motoring offences.
She also urged members of the public who have dashcam footage or other evidence of dangerous driving or motoring offences to report it through the West Yorkshire Safer Roads submissions portal.
