Four men in 20s killed in car crash after smashing into lamppost

Published: 13:41, 24 July 2026 | Updated: 13:59, 24 July 2026 Four men in their 20s have died after a car crashed into a lamppost in the early hours of Friday.  The tragic incident happened at just before 2am when the black Seat Cupra came off the road and collided with a lamppost in the Huyton area of Merseyside. Emergency services rushed to the scene where four men, aged between 23 and 26, were sadly pronounced dead. A fifth 27-year-old man who was a passenger inside the car has been taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Merseyside Police have shut part of Liverpool Road while they carry out an investigation. The force has warned that closures are likely to remain in place over the coming weekend.  The next of kin of those who have died have been notified and are being helped by specialist officers. Their families have been informed and are being supported by our specially trained family liaison officers. 'This is a truly devastating moment for their families and loved ones, and it is now our priority to get answers for them on how the collision occurred.
