Former AC Milan Ultra Leader Sentenced to 18 Years for Drug Trafficking

Rabat – The Italian court Tribunale di Milano has sentenced Luca Lucci, the former leader of AC Milan’s “Curva Sud” ultras, to 18 years and eight months in prison after finding him guilty of leading an international drug trafficking network.

The ruling came after a fast-track trial involving 23 defendants. Lucci received the heaviest sentence among those involved, reflecting what prosecutors described as his central role in the operation.

A network built around trafficking

Investigators said Lucci led a group that transported large quantities of drugs between June 2020 and March 2021. The shipments included around three tons of hashish, 255 kilograms of marijuana, and more than 50 kilograms of cocaine.

Prosecutors argued that Lucci acted as the main organizer behind the network, coordinating operations across borders and managing the flow of drugs.

The court agreed with that assessment, accepting the prosecution’s case that Lucci stood at the center of the trafficking system.

Authorities arrested Lucci in September 2024 as part of a broader investigation led by Milan’s anti-mafia unit. The inquiry focused on links between organized crime and ultra groups connected to San Siro stadium.

The case formed part of a wider effort by Italian authorities to break the connection between football fan groups and criminal networks, a problem that has surfaced repeatedly in recent years.

Previous legal troubles

This was not Lucci’s first conviction. He had already received a 10-year prison sentence in a separate case linked to an attempted murder connected to the same ultras environment.

The court also handed down sentences to other members of the network. One of the main dealers received a 13-year and six-month prison term, while several others faced varying penalties depending on their role.

By targeting high-profile figures like Lucci, investigators aim to reduce the influence of organized crime in stadium environments and fan organizations.

For AC Milan supporters, the ruling closes a chapter tied to one of the most visible figures in the Curva Sud.
