Agadir – Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Wednesday in Vienna, aimed at strengthening collaboration in key areas of modern healthcare.

“Today in Vienna, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are taking a major step forward with the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement in the service of health,” FM6SS announced in a press statement.

The agreement focuses on high-impact fields including radiation oncology, medical imaging, nuclear medicine, medical physics, and nutrition, sectors widely considered essential to improving diagnostic and treatment capacities.

According to FM6SS, the partnership seeks to promote the exchange of expertise, reinforce technical capacities, and support the development of research programs, while contributing to the continuous improvement of healthcare quality.

Under the agreement, FM6SS will take part in international initiatives led by the IAEA, notably Rays of Hope, which looks to expand access to life-saving radiotherapy services, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where such infrastructure remains limited.

The cooperation framework also includes training programs, expert missions, and support for structuring national and regional healthcare initiatives. It will further enable FM6SS to host international talent and contribute to global efforts aimed at strengthening health systems.

“It will also enable the FM6SS to host international talent and participate in the global effort to support low- and middle-income countries,” FM6SS said.

“This partnership represents a strategic opportunity: to strengthen skills excellence, accelerate innovation in health and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub in medical sciences,” the institution added.

The signing ceremony was accompanied by a visit to the IAEA laboratories, where Moroccan representatives explored advanced technologies and research programs shaping the future of nuclear applications in medicine.
