Astonishingly, Caluori has scored 10 tries in the two league matches against Sale, who are likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder at mere mention of his name. In fact, the whole afternoon was a scarring experience for Alex Sanderson’s side. If a performance felt like a resignation note, this was it with Saracens scoring 13 tries on every one of their 22 visits. Caluori went aerial for two of this five tries against Sale Credit: David Rogers/Getty Images Sale’s season may be at an end and they have a horrific injury list, but the absence of fight and heart was inexcusable, particularly at a point when the club were launching their season-ticket drive. Saracens amassed their tries with embarrassing ease, jumping into a 19-0 lead after 19 minutes. They more or less tracked at a point a minute from there on in, but nearly everyone’s attention was focused on the sensational Caluori. It was notable that Caluori ran riot opposite Tom Roebuck, one of the England wings above him in the pecking order, at least for now. Oh my word 🔥😱 Noah Caluori with number FIVE. Two games this season. FIVE tries in each vs Sale Sharks 🤯 He's flying - Air Caluori delivers again 😍 📺 Stream TNT Sports with HBO Max pic.twitter.com/LHnAkHpaBi — Rugby on TNT Sports (@rugbyontnt) April 19, 2026 There are still raw edges to Caluori, particularly in defence, but England head coach Steve Borthwick is going to find it mighty hard to resist promoting him for the Nations Championship. At Prem level, at least, he is a cheat code. Every time Sale launched a box kick, Caluori came down with it. Then when they felt they had him covered, the 19-year-old could launch himself what seemed like five feet in the air to ground the ball for his second and fifth tries. Certainly Sale could not afford to give Caluori any helping hands as they did when Robert du Preez threw an intercept straight to his chest. They were not gifts that Saracens took advantage of, with at least half of Sale’s team seeming to be on a form of non-contact tackling. Sale have made some eye-catching signings for next season, including Courtney Lawes and Nicky Smith, but the end of this season cannot come soon enough. Thanks for joining us! 5:16PM How the Prem is shaping up... Link copied to clipboard 5:14PM Sanderson ‘embarrassed’ by defeat Link copied to clipboard Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson to TNT Sports: “Not as positive as I was pre-match obviously, embarrassed always after results like that. “Clearly we haven’t found the buttons to press to motivate us for the back end of the season. I thought I was clear on Monday as to some of the reasons we have things to play for and that wasn’t there today. “When everything goes wrong, it’s generally down to mentality. If it’s a little bit in every area then we haven’t pitched up with the right attitude, physically. “As bad as we were, Sarries looked like they were playing for a top-four spot.” 5:09PM ‘We’re starting to click’, says George Link copied to clipboard Saracens’ Jamie George to TNT Sports: “The message at half-time, we said we can make this a scrap or we can be the team that we want to be. “I’ve really enjoyed the Saints and Bath performances, we looked like a different team. It felt internally like we’re starting to click a little bit and starting to get things right.” On what they have changed: “Fundamentally, we needed to work a lot harder than we had done. We put a lot of emphasis into our attack. Ultimately the Sarries identity is about our defence and how hard we work.” 5:07PM Watch: Caluori bags his fifth Link copied to clipboard Oh my word 🔥😱 Noah Caluori with number FIVE. A bit of luck!” On the win, he said: “All the boys are buzzing, throughout the game we are just making sure we keep level heads and stick to the game plan. “Throughout this week we’ve talked about how hard it is coming here - we’ve struggled here in the past - flipping the page and treating these last Prem games like a final.” “We know how good we can be when we’re on form. We all believe we can make it, treating every game like a final.” 4:58PM Saracens close the gap Link copied to clipboard Saracens remain in sixth, having started the day a long way off Bristol in fifth, but they have reduced that gap to five points, and are now nine points shy of Exeter in fourth. Sale remain in seventh and six points above Gloucester in eighth. 4:56PM ‘Step one done’ on reaching play-offs, says Malins Link copied to clipboard Saracens Max Malins to TNT Sports: “We need to win games. It’s important not just to win but to put a scoreline on like that is for huge us. “We know how much work we need to put in to be in with a chance of the play-offs so that’s step one done but five more to go. “We don’t have a great record coming away to sale, we touched on that during the week. We knew from the off that we had to be on our metal and I thought we brought that. I think we really took it to them so it’s pleasing.” On what was the key: “Connections all round the park, we improved hugely on that.” 4:51PM Caluori shines again Link copied to clipboard Noah Caluori is was once again the star of the show as Saracens meet Sale, scoring five tries against the Greater Manchester side for the second time this season. 4:48PM Full time: Sale Sharks 19 Saracens 85 Link copied to clipboard The clock ticks into the red and Saracens boot the ball into touch, bringing about the full-time whistle on a huge victory over Sale. 4:45PM TRY! Opoku-Fordjour adds a third for Sale Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 19 Saracens 85 (Opoku-Fordjour) Sale quickly go to within a metre of the line following the line-out and eventually it’s Opoku-Fordjour who sticks an arm out to touch the ball down for a third Sale try. Ford makes the kick for the home side and their huge deficit becomes slightly less huge. 4:43PM 77 mins: Sale Sharks 12 Saracens 85 Link copied to clipboard Sale come forward down their left and earn the penalty with Caluori penalised. They kick for the corner down that flank 4:40PM TRY! Earl sets Saracens record with 13th try Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 12 Saracens 85 (Earl) Saracens record their highest points tally in the Prem! Malins sells a couple of defenders with a clever dummy before offloading to Earl, who has a clean passage to the line. Burke makes another conversion. 4:37PM TRY! O’Flaherty responds to error with second try Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 66 (O’Flaherty) O’Flaherty responds to his mistake down one end with a try at the other. With Sale pushing for the line, the wing makes a well-timed line-breaking run to cross for his and his team’s second try of the day. The conversion is made by the home side. 4:34PM TRY! Malins pounces after O’Flaherty error Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 78 (Malins) It gets uglier and uglier for the home side. Tompkins rips the ball back for Saracens and kicks deep into the Sale half. O’Flaherty looks to sweep it up but he spills the ball under pressure from Hall and Malins can leap on it to score Saracens’ 12th of the afternoon. 12th! The conversion is made. 4:30PM 66 mins: Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 71 Link copied to clipboard Sale earn a rare penalty, allowing them to kick for the corner down their left, but a loose pass from Ford following the line-out forces them 20 yards deeper. 4:29PM TRY! Michelow gets in on the act Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 71 (Michelow) The match gets back underway with the scrum and it doesn’t take long for another score for Saracens. The visitors work the ball to the right following the set-piece and Malins drives powerfully towards the line before Michelow surges over to complete the job. The conversion goes wide this time. 4:26PM 63 mins: Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 66 Link copied to clipboard Gilmore is back on his feet, which is good to see, but he looks a bit dazed and will be making way here. The match resumes with a scrum for Saracens, in a central position inside the Sale 22. 4:24PM 63 mins: Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 66 Link copied to clipboard Saracens are coming back for more in the Sale 22 but an injury to Gilmore brings the game to a halt. 4:22PM 62 mins: Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 66 Link copied to clipboard A brilliant afternoon for Caluori, but all done with the a spelling mistake on the back of his shirt. A spelling mistake on the shirt of Noah Caluori Credit: David Rogers/Getty Images 4:18PM TRY! Caluori scores fifth with sensational leap Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 66 (Caluori) It’s a 10th try for Saracens and there are no prizes for guessing who scored it. Maasi-White is penalised at the breakdown and Saracens kick for the corner, targeting the right flank once again. The ball is worked inside from the line-out, before being shifted back out to the right, and Caluori crosses in the corner with a sensational leap for the line. It’s a good conversion from Burke from out wide. 4:13PM TRY! Caluori scores his fourth with Sale falling apart. Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 59 (Caluori) This is getting ridiculous now... Saracens once again have joy down their right, being afforded acres of space by the home side, and once the ball reaches Caluori, he has an easy route to the line. The conversion is made from Burke. So, that is now four tries for Caluori today and nine against Sale this season. 4:11PM 52 mins: Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 52 Link copied to clipboard Saracens are nearly in again following a break from Malins and kick down the line from Bracken but Sale just about win the chase. 4:09PM TRY! Caluori secures successive hat-tricks against Sale Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 52 (Caluori) Caluori is at it again! The young wing makes the interception just inside the Saracens half and he has a free passage to the line from 60 yards out. That is eight tries for Caluori against Sale this year. Burke makes the conversion. 4:07PM TRY! Saracens respond immediately through Burke Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 45 (Bracken) Saracens immediately restore their advantage with a seventh try of the day. Some slick passing allows them to exploit an overload on their right flank and Caluori drives down the line before popping it back inside to Bracken who crosses. It was all too easy from a Sale perspective. The conversion is made by Burke and the lead extends to 40 points. 4:05PM TRY! Sale on the board through O’Flaherty Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 5 Saracens 38 (O’Flaherty) That’s much more like it from Sale! Following a big carry from Opoku-Fordjour, the home side construct a really nice move, shifting the ball sharply from left to right and O’Flaherty shows great power to drive down the line and cross in the corner. The conversion is sliced wide but Sale will be relieved to be on the board. 4:03PM 44 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 38 Link copied to clipboard Sale earn an attacking line-out down their left but it’s messy once again from the hosts, thrown over everyone and Saracens can clear. 4:01PM 43 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 38 Link copied to clipboard Saracens pick up where they left off, starting the second half on the front foot, but O’Flaherty does well to sweep up a chip over the top. There have been two or three phenomenal takes from Caluori in this match. The teenager is so strong in the aerial duels. 3:58PM 41 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 38 Link copied to clipboard We are back underway in Greater Manchester, with Saracens and Burke kicking things off, going from left to right in this second period. 3:50PM Watch: Caluori scores Saracen’s sixth try of rampant first half Link copied to clipboard Picture perfect 📸 Noah Calouri dives over again 💫 That's his 7th of the season vs Sale Sharks in the Gallagher PREM 😮💨 📺 Stream TNT Sports with HBO Max pic.twitter.com/K6wqbI2yPm — Rugby on TNT Sports (@rugbyontnt) April 19, 2026 3:47PM Sale booed after pitiful opening period Link copied to clipboard This has been an exceptionally ugly first half for Sale Sharks, who were booed by their own fans after the concession of a sixth try. That is the least that Sale have deserved because their efforts in both defence and attack have been pitiful. Saracens do not even seem to be in top gear but have been efficient and clinical with their opportunities. 3:43PM Half-time: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 38 Link copied to clipboard Sale look to finish a disappointing half on a high but after a number of attacking phases, the ball is spilt and Saracens take a huge advantage into the break. 3:41PM TRY! Caluori scores his second and Saracens’ sixth Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 38 (Caluori) Caluori just loves playing against Sale! Saracens work the ball out to the 19-year-old on their right flank with some really slick passing and the winger crosses in the corner with an acrobatic finish. Burke’s conversion attempt is dragged wide so the visitors don’t quite reach the 40-point mark inside the opening 40 minutes. 3:39PM TRY! Burke brilliance extends Saracens lead Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 33 (Burke) That is brilliant from Burke as Saracens run riot! The fly-half gathers a loose ball on halfway and wriggles free from a couple of tackles before pulling off a sublime chip and chase, allowing him to cross with ease in the end in a central position. There is a check for a knock-on from Segun as the winger competed for a high kick but the try stands. Burke makes the conversion, so that’s four from five at the tee for him. 3:36PM TRY! Carre secures bonus point for Saracens Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 26 (Carre) Saracens secure the four-try bonus point before half-time. Saracens come forward and win another penalty, this time just outside the Sale 22, allowing them to kick for the corner down their right. The ball is worked inside following the line-out and Caluori takes the visitors five metres short before Carre completes the job with a powerful drive. Burke makes the conversion this time so the lead is up to 26. 3:34PM 34 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard Saracens go for the kick and chase and thought it doesn’t come off, they had the advantage, so will have the penalty just inside their half. Dorian West, Sale’s forwards coach, tells TNT Sports: “We just can’t seem to do anything right at the moment.” 3:31PM 31 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard Sale shift the ball to Roebuck from the scrum and the winger powers his side a metre short of the line just beneath the posts but he is held up and Saracens get a crucial penalty. 3:30PM 30 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard There is a high tackle from Burke, giving Sale the advantage, and play is quickly brought back for the penalty for the home side. They opt to kick for the corner down their left once again. It’s a messy line-out from Sale, going over everyone, but they are given a reprieve, with McFarland spilling the loose ball. 3:28PM 28 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard The ball goes forward from Saracens following the Sale line-out and the home side will have the scrum in a really promising position. The ball is shifted out to the right by Sale, and then out to the left, but Saracens are holding strong for now. 3:26PM 26 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard The TMO intervenes over a forward pass from Caluori on Saracens’ right. A bit harsh perhaps but the hosts will have the scrum just beyond halfway. The penalty goes against Saracens’ Street and Sale can kick for touch down their left, just inside the visitors’ 22. 3:23PM 23 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard Saracens have barely broken a sweat to build a 19-0 lead. Their build-up has been patient inside the Sale 22 but the home side have shown very little bite in their tackle with Tom Willis the latest to barge through three-would-be tacklers. You would hope Sale show a response very soon. 3:22PM 22 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 Link copied to clipboard Sale have an attacking line-out down their right and they maul for the line but they are quickly penalised and Saracens will have the scrum inside their 22. 3:20PM TRY! Willis powers over as Saracens continue strong start Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 19 (Willis) After 19 minutes, Saracens have a 19-point lead. The visitors make good progress towards the line following the line-out down their left and eventually it’s Willis who shows incredible power to make the decisive dart for the line, over towards the right flank. The kick is sent just wide of the right post from Burke, but it’s all been very easy for the London side so far. 3:17PM 16 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 14 Link copied to clipboard Saracens get the decision at the scrum, with Harper penalised, and Burke can kick into touch down the visitors’ left for the attacking line-out, just inside the Sale 22. 3:15PM TRY! Caluori scores Saracens’ second Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 14 (Caluori) Sale will be getting sick of the sight of Caluori. Malins collects the long kick into the Saracens half and he shows great feet and speed to dart through the Sale defensive line and towards their 22. The full-back offloads the ball to his left to the supporting Itoje, who shifts it on to Caluori, and the young wing has an easy passage to the line for his sixth try against Sale this season. Burke makes the conversion once again. 3:11PM 11 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 7 Link copied to clipboard Sale are awarded the scrum on their 22 and Saracens are penalised at the set-piece, allowing Ford to clear into the visitors’ half. 3:10PM 10 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 7 Link copied to clipboard Saracens have the scrum inside their own half but they do well to collect their box-kick before driving up to halfway. The visitors kick deep into the Sale half before the home side clear into touch, just short of the halfway line. 3:07PM 7 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 7 Link copied to clipboard Sale look for the immediate response and are quickly within 10 metres of the line following an excellent break down their left flank. Saracens manage to slow the hosts down, forcing them inside. It’s eventually worked back out to Roebuck in space on the left but the wing spills it! 3:05PM 4 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 7 Link copied to clipboard It is not exactly a full house here at the CorpAcq Stadium. In fairness to the locals, not much is riding on the outcome of this match between two of Prem Rugby’s middle class. More problematically, it was the Manchester marathon this morning meaning half the roads around the city have been closed for half the day. Still at least they have introduced the teams to Oasis’ Rock and Roll Star which is a certified banger. 3:04PM TRY! Segun dances through for opening try Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 7 (Segun) The early pressure pays off immediately! After 14 phases, the ball is worked back out to Segun on the left and the wing dances inside, breezing through a couple of weak tackles and he can drive through for a simple score in the end. Burke makes the conversion and it’s the dream start for the visitors. 3:03PM 2 mins: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 0 Link copied to clipboard Saracens get the knock-on advantage but they might not need it, with Segun bursting down their left to reach the Sale 22. He is tackled but has numbers arriving to support and this is a great position for the visitors early on. 3:01PM 1 min: Sale Sharks 0 Saracens 0 Link copied to clipboard Sale’s George Ford kicks things off, with the home side going from left to right in this opening period. Christophe Ridley is the man in the middle this afternoon. 2:59PM Teams ready to go Link copied to clipboard The teams have emerged from the tunnel, with Saracens heading out first, and we are now just a couple of moments away from kick-off. 2:57PM Kick-off approaching Link copied to clipboard We are less than five minutes away from kick-off in Greater Manchester. A reminder of how things stand in the Prem ahead of this afternoon’s match... 2:54PM Sanderson on Sale’s disappointing campaign Link copied to clipboard Sale Sharks director of rugby Alex Sanderson has told TNT Sports: “There’s probably a few factors, some we can’t control, we’ve had a few injuries. “There’s some accountability on the coaching front, as well as not having the strength in depth.” 2:51PM McCall on Saracens’ shortcomings Link copied to clipboard Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has just told TNT Sports: “Looking back on maybe 80% of the games we’ve lost in the Prem this season, they were lost in the last 10 minutes. “It feels we’ve had to earn our points. It feels like we’ve given up a lot of soft points, the very best teams don’t do that in the pressure moments.” 2:46PM What happened in the last meeting between the teams? Link copied to clipboard Saracens will be hoping for something close to a repeat of the reverse fixture in October, with the London side thumping Sale 65-14 at StoneX Stadium as youngster Noah Caluori enjoyed an impressive five-try haul on his first start in the league. When I spoke to him he just said that the environment at Sale is great and I would really enjoy it. He said the club is full of good people so I can’t wait to get started.” The winger is the brother of current Sharks and England player Asher Opoku-Fordjour. 2:33PM Dan signs new deal with Saracens Link copied to clipboard England hooker Theo Dan signed a new contract with Saracens this week. “I am really happy to have re-signed for Saracens. Speculation about the identity of the American investor who had agreed the deal to purchase the Devon club had been swirling since Telegraph Sport first broke the news of a takeover on Good Friday. Black Knight Football Club, a consortium led by American businessman Bill Foley and which includes Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan, has won the race and now the Chiefs’ hierarchy awaits members’ approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7 at Sandy Park. A 75 per cent majority of the roughly 700-strong membership will be required to ratify the deal. 2:19PM Can Caluori repeat heroics? Link copied to clipboard Noah Caluori scored five tries in the reverse fixture in October on his first Prem start for Saracens. Mark McCall’s side start the afternoon in sixth, 10 points adrift of Bristol Bears in fifth and 14 points shy of Exeter Chiefs, who currently occupy the fourth and final play-off spot. The London outfit remain mathematically in contention for a top-four finish but they quickly need to end their run of defeats, with their 31-22 loss at Bath in the last 16 of the Champions Cup earlier this month their sixth on the spin in all competitions. Saracens come into today’s contest at the CorpAcq Stadium just one place above Sale in the Prem standings, but have a healthy 11-point advantage over their opponents. Alex Sanderon’s side are enduring a difficult period in the Prem, having lost all four of their league fixtures since the turn of the year, while they suffered a heavy defeat in their Champions Cup quarter-final against Leinster in their most recent outing. Saracens will be hoping for something close to a repeat of the reverse fixture in October, with the London side thumping Sale 65-14 at StoneX Stadium as youngster Noah Caluori enjoyed an impressive five-try haul on his first start in the league. Both teams have suffered injury blows in recent weeks, with Sale’s Joe Carpenter sidelined by a groin injury suffered in the loss at Leinster, while Saracens’ Elliot Daly and Andy Onyeama-Christie have both been ruled out for the season with arm fractures.
