First Lady Aseefa urges Punjab govt to ensure thorough probe into Hina Javed murder

First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari on Sunday urged the Punjab government to ensure a thorough inquiry and proper investigation into the murder of Hina Javed, calling for those responsible to be brought to justice. Hina was allegedly murdered under mysterious circumstances in the Askari Apartments area of Rawalpindi's Civil Lines police jurisdiction. Her body, bearing signs of torture, was found partially hanging from a bathroom shower, with her hands tied behind her back and a wire noose around her neck. In a post on X, the President's Office said that Aseefa “expressed deep concern and sorrow over the reported brutal murder of Hina in Rawalpindi, and conveyed her solidarity and condolences to the bereaved family”.   "She called upon the Government of Punjab to ensure a thorough inquiry and proper investigation into the heinous crime and said that those responsible must be brought to justice and made an example of so that no one dares to repeat such an act," it said. According to the statement, Aseefa also expressed concern over the rise in such incidents in Pakistan and hoped that “effective measures” would be taken to “protect women and prevent such crimes” in the future. The husband and employee were taken into custody. According to the police, the victim's brother, Fahad Javed, said his parents were elderly and had been ill for a long time. He said he had one brother and two sisters. His elder sister, Nadia, lived in Canada, while his younger sister, 45-year-old Hina Javed, married Faisal Asghar in November 2025. Read: Woman found dead in apartment Fahad said he received a call from Colonel retd Asghar Fayyaz, his sister's father-in-law, asking him to come immediately because of an emergency. When he arrived at the apartment with relatives, he learned that Hina had been found dead with both hands tied behind her back, a cloth placed over her face and a wire tied around her neck. She was tied to the bathroom shower and was partially bent toward the floor. He alleged that she had been subjected to severe torture and suffering before her death.
