Fez Gears Up for Spiritual Marathon on Sunday, April 12
Rabat – The Fes Spiritual Marathon is set to take place on Sunday, April 12, in Fez, after being postponed from its original date of mid-February due to floods and unstable weather conditions.
Organizers confirmed that all registrations remain valid, and participants are now preparing for the rescheduled race. The event will include several categories, including a full marathon, a half marathon, a 10 km race, and children’s races. This will allow runners of different levels to take part.
The race day will begin with participant reception at 7 am, followed by the full marathon at 7:30 am. The semi-marathon and 10 km races will both start at 8:30 am. The first arrivals are expected at 9:00 am for the 10 km race, 9:30 am for the semi-marathon, and 9:40 am for the full marathon.
The trophy ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 am, while the event will officially close at 12:30 pm. The race will start in front of Lycée Ibn Khaldoun on Avenue des Mérinides and finish at Bab Boujloud Square in Fez.
The marathon is expected to bring together both local and international runners. Organizers say the event aims to combine sport with the cultural and spiritual identity of Fez, a city known for its historic medina and long-standing traditions.
Organizers thanked runners for their patience and continued support following the postponement. They emphasized that the decision to delay the event was necessary to ensure safety and proper conditions for the race. They also denied recent rumors that the event was completely cancelled.
“Following certain rumors circulating about a possible cancellation, we would like to reassure you: the Fes Spiritual Marathon is indeed maintained and will take place as planned,” said Abderrahim Bouramdane, a Moroccan long-distance runner.
He added that all preparations are continuing “under the best conditions to ensure an event that meets your expectations.”
