By NATASHA ANDERSON, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 23:08, 16 May 2026 | Updated: 23:08, 16 May 2026 A married female teacher accused of sex with a 16-year-old boy in the back of a truck heaped scorn on her husband while being questioned by a cop, it is alleged. Mackenzie Naught, 25, is alleged to have turned on husband Garrett Naught, 24, during an interview over her alleged crime in St John, Washington, earlier this month. Naught, who is charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor, told Deputy Amy Griffiths of Whitman County Sheriff's Office that Garrett had cheated on her eight months ago, according to a probable cause affidavit seen by the Daily Mail. She went on to complain that there was 'a lot of infidelity' and 'anger' in her four year marriage to Garrett, which has produced one son, the filing says. Garrett - who reported his wife's alleged crime to the police - suffers from an alcohol problem, Naught explained to Deputy Griffiths, according to the affidavit. Continuing to bare her soul, Naught claimed there was 'no trust' between the couple and that it was 'time for them to get divorced,' according to the court filing.  Naught, a first grade teacher at St John-Endicott Cooperative Schools, initially denied having any physical contact with the boy. Despite her denial, Naught was taken into custody, where she allegedly confessed to sleeping with the boy and asking him not to tell anyone about what happened, the affidavit said.  Mackenize Naught was arrested on May 10 after her husband Garrett, left, reported the alleged sexual encounter to deputies with the Whitman County Sheriff's Office. Above, the couple with their son Naught, pictured at her bachelorette party in 2022, and her husband Garrett have been married for four years. She told police there was 'a lot of mutual infidelity' and 'anger' in their marriage, she had not recently cheated on Garrett, the affidavit said. The age of consent in Washington is 16, but does not apply to people in a position of authority over the individual. Under state law, a school employee cannot have sex with a current student unless the student is 21 years old. Washington law also bans anyone in a position of authority, such as a teacher or coach, from having sex with a minor if they are more than five years older than the child. Naught's alleged victim is currently enrolled in the high school at St John-Endicott Cooperative Schools, where she works. She is also nine years older than him.  The teen, whose family is reportedly friends with the Naughts, told Deputy Griffiths had been messaging the first-grade teacher and her husband on Snapchat.  After Garrett fell asleep, he and Naught continued messaging.  He told police the 25-year-old was 'being flirty', tried to get him to meet her and that he 'felt weird about' her alleged overtures, the affidavit said. The boy eventually agreed and picked Naught up from her street at around 2.15am, it is alleged.  He told deputies that she asked him to take her to a 'little spot' where they could hang out, so he drove her to Harwood Hill, a nearby agricultural area and rural road, investigators say. The pair had been talking for awhile when Naught suddenly kissed him and started to touch his genitals over his pants, the court filling said.  Mackenzie Naught, 25, had sex with a 16-year-old boy on May 3, 2026, a probable cause affidavit said. The boy was enrolled at the combined elementary and secondary school where she worked He alleged that both his and Naught's pants came off after he moved from the driver's seat to the passenger seat, where she had been seated.  That's when Naught climbed on top of him and tried to perform a sex act on him, the affidavit said.  He claimed he 'felt weird' and was struggling to comply with Naught's sexual demands, according to the probable cause affidavit. The pair then moved to the bed of his pickup truck, the affidavit alleged. He laid down and Naught continued to try to sexually abuse him, it is claimed.  Shortly after, the boy ended the alleged encounter, the court filing said. They then got back inside the truck and he dropped Naught back near her home around 4am, he told deputies.  Naught, while being interviewed by police, told deputies that she lied when they first questioned her about allegedly having sex with the teen, according to court papers. She admitted to messaging the boy on Snapchat while intoxicated, meeting up with him and having sex in the truck, it is claimed.  She gave a graphic description of her alleged illegal encounter with the boy in the cab of her truck that was outlined in the affidavit detailing the behavior she is accused of.  Naught has been employed as a first grade teacher at St John-Endicott Cooperative Schools, pictured, since September. The district has since placed her on leave Naught told police she was 'really sorry' and 'knew it was wrong' to have sex with the boy, the court filing said.  She also admitted to knowing that her alleged victim was only 16, but claimed he felt 'like one of their friends,' according to police.  Deputy Griffiths, who interviewed Naught, said the suspect repeatedly used the phrase 'the individual' to refer to her alleged victim. 'Mackenzie continuously refers to JD as the individual which is odd,' she wrote.   Naught made her first court appearance on Monday and was jailed in lieu of a $10,000 bond on a charge of first-degree sexual conduct with a minor.  She was due back in court today for her arraignment. It is unclear if she has entered a plea. Garrett first reported the alleged sexual encounter to police on May 9 after he uncovered messages between Naught and the boy, six days after their alleged encounter.   He told investigators that he became suspicious of his wife after he noticed she had been sleeping on her phone. He then decided to search her phone. Garrett confronted Naught about having sex with the teen and she allegedly claimed to have only shared a 'little kiss' with him, the affidavit said. He then confronted the 16-year-old who allegedly admitted to having sex with Naught, according to the affidavit.  Garrett is the assistant track coach at the alleged victim's high school. The 24-year-old told police he knows the teenager and his family well In one text message to the boy, Garrett wrote: 'That doesn't matter, you f****d my wife and now there's an issue.' 'Yea,' the boy replied, according to the court filing.  Naught has been a first grade teacher at the school since September. Garrett is the assistant track coach at the high school. Garrett told police he has known the alleged victim for years, but claimed his wife had not spent time with the boy before starting her employment at the school.  The district has placed her on leave. 'At this time, St John School District is aware of allegations involving a district employee that are currently being reviewed by law enforcement,' district superintendent Tina Strong said in a statement. 'The employee has been placed on leave and will not be on campus during this process. The district is cooperating fully with the appropriate authorities and will also be conducting its own investigation into the allegations.'  Strong doubled down on her commitment to the 'safety, well-being, and support of our students and school community.' 'We understand situations like this can create concern, questions, and emotions throughout a small community, and we ask that everyone approach this matter with care and respect while the appropriate process unfolds,' she added. 'We also expect staff to continue maintaining the highest level of professionalism during this time.' The Daily Mail approached the attorney who was listed in court records as representing Naught for comment, but he said she is no longer his client. It is unclear if she has retained new counsel.
