Fan gifts Anne Hathaway a Quran following 'Inshallah' viral moment

ALBAWABA - American actress Anne Hathaway recently became the talk of social media after a viral moment captured her saying "Inshallah" during an interview to promote her upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2. 

Videos of the viral clip flooded social media, receiving praises from the renowned actresses' muslim fans across the globe. In response to saying "Inshallah" (If God wills it in Arabic), a fan gifted Anne Hathaway a Quran during a The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere.

Many others outlined that 'Inshallah' isn't exclusive to Muslims, but Arabs from other religions as well, such as Christians, who also use it daily.

A social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "It’s kinda sweet, shows how much that one word meant to someone. She looked surprised but took it with a smile no big drama." 

They added, "People are acting like she is converting on the red carpet or something but it’s probably just a nice gesture from a fan who felt seen."

Another wrote, "That's such a thoughtful gesture! Anne always seems so grounded and genuine."

While many took Hathaway's gesture as a compliment, several others criticized the actress for accepting the Quran from the fan, stating that the religious book goes against things like the outfit she wore at the premiere. 

A user outlined, "Anne's 'Inshallah' really hit different, next she'll be serving looks in a hijab."
