Family 'devastated' after body found in search for man who 'loved life'

A family has been left "devastated" after a body was found in the search for a man who "loved life and lived it the way he wanted". 66-year-old Stephen Faulkner was reported missing earlier this week after last being seen last weekend in the Tonypandy area. A major five-day search operation was launched by South Wales Police , with specialist divers, drones, CSI dogs and helicopters all involved. Dozens of friends, family members and others in the local community joined the search for Mr Faulkner, with his family saying on Thursday they were overwhelmed by the "unbelievable" support they had received. Tragically, a body was found on Thursday during the search. While South Wales Police did not confirm formal identification, the family was told of the discovery. He said: "On behalf of myself and my family I want to thank from the bottom of my heart each and every single person that took time to help search for my dad. Even if you just shared a post, I thank you greatly. "Especially my best friends who went above and beyond - I can’t thank you enough. One of my best mates who actually found my dad, I’m eternally in your debt." He also thanked police who "took great care and respect" during the search and after the discovery of the body. He added that his father was "as tough as they come", having recovered from cancer three times. He concluded the tribute by saying: "He was someone who loved life and lived it the way he wanted. He loved animals and wildlife especially horses and dogs. "He loved live music, especially his favourite band AC/DC, and those that knew him well knew he loved a party.
