VILNIUS, April 2. /TASS/. Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg agreed to consider a proposal to establish a buffer zone between the alliance and Russia back in 2021, the NRA portal reported. According to the publication, Stoltenberg wrote in his memoirs that he agreed to consider the possibility of withdrawing some NATO troops from Eastern Europe. In 2021, he allegedly proposed to the NATO-Russia Council to discuss Moscow’s idea of creating a buffer zone and withdrawing alliance forces to positions that existed before 1997, the portal clarified. According to the portal, the memoirs are mainly dedicated to US President Donald Trump and his position on the possibility of the country withdrawing from the North Atlantic Alliance. In March, Stoltenberg suggested the possibility of NATO’s collapse during Trump’s current presidential term.المصدر: TASS | Source: TASS
