Ex-Braves minor leaguer facing multiple charges after fatal 3-car crash in Florida

Jonathan Matos Morales, a former minor league catcher in the Atlanta Braves organization, is facing charges of vehicular homicide and leaving a crash scene involving death after his alleged involvement in a three-car crash in Florida, according to police records.According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Matos was driving a Ford Mustang on Interstate 75 in Manatee County (Fla.) shortly before 6:30 a.m. Monday, when he shifted lanes and collided with a Chevy Trailblazer. The impact caused the Trailblazer to crash into a third vehicle, a semi-tractor-trailer, causing the truck to flip onto its right side and across the highway, killing the 34-year-old truck driver. Authorities say Matos stopped momentarily, but then continued driving. The driver of the Trailblazer suffered minor injuries, according to police.Advertisement
