İsrail'in katılımına tepki gösterileriyle başlayan yarışmanın ikinci yarı finalinde Eurovision'da yarışacak finalistler belli oldu. Viyana'daki Wiener Stadthalle'de gerçekleşen ikinci yarı finalde sahne alan Bulgaristan, Ukrayna, Norveç, Avustralya, Romanya, Malta, Güney Kıbrıs Rum Yönetimi, Arnavutluk, Danimarka ve Çekya finale geçerken, Azerbaycan, Lüksemburg, Ermenistan, İsviçre ve Letonya yarışmaya veda etti. Yarışmanın finali ise 16 Mayıs'ta yapılacak. İsrail'in katılımı nedeniyle boykot kararlarının gölgesinde devam eden yarışmanın izlenme sayılarında düşüş yaşanıyor. İtalya'da devlet televizyonu RAI'de yayımlanan ilk yarı finalini izleyenlerin sayısı 1 milyon 856 bin oldu. Ülkede geçen yıl 2 milyon 489 bin olarak açıklanan izleyici sayısının, bu yıl önemli ölçüde azalması dikkati çekti. İsrail'in katılımı nedeniyle boykot kararı alan Hollanda'da ise izlenme sayısı 2025'e göre yüzde 42 azaldı. Dünkü ilk yarı final, ortalama 541 bin izleyici tarafından seyredildi. Buna göre yarı final, 2012'deki ilk yarı finalden bu yana Hollanda'da en az izlenen yarışma oldu. Geçen seneye kıyasla bu yıl yapılan yarışmanın ilk yarı finali, İngiltere'de 253 bin, İsveç'te 316 bin, Belçika'da yaklaşık 430 bin daha az izlendi. İsrail'in katılımı nedeniyle çekilmeye hazır olan "yarım düzine" ülkenin de eklenmesiyle Eurovision'un neredeyse "uçuruma yuvarlandığını" dile getiren kaynaklar, bu ülkelerin sonunda ikna edilerek geri adım atmalarının sağlandığını kaydetti. İsminin açıklanmaması koşuluyla konuşan bir yetkili, boykot kararı almaya hazır ülkeler bu konuda geri adım atmasaydı, organizasyonun uğrayacağı kayıplar göz önünde bulundurularak Eurovision'un 2026'da iptal edilmesinin gerçekçi bir olasılık olduğunu aktardı. Yarışmanın 12 Mayıs'ta yapılan ilk yarı finalinde sahne alan İsrailli şarkıcı Noam Bettan, "soykırımı durdurun" sloganıyla protesto edilmişti. İsrail'i temsil eden şarkıcı Bettan, "İsrail'e 10 kez oy verin" şeklinde bir talimatın yer aldığı videolar yayımlamıştı. Eurovision Şarkı Yarışması Direktörü Martin Green, 20 dakika içinde İsrail kamu yayın kuruluşu KAN heyetiyle iletişime geçerek videoların paylaşımını derhal durdurmalarını ve tüm platformlardan kaldırmalarını talep ettiklerini, kurumun da bu talebi yerine getirdiğini aktarmıştı. Green, "Bir sanatçıya veya şarkıya 10 kez oy verilmesi için doğrudan çağrı yapmak kurallarımıza ve yarışmanın ruhuna aykırıdır." ifadelerini kullanmıştı. Martin Green, "KAN'a resmi bir uyarı mektubu gönderdik ve tüm tanıtım faaliyetlerini dikkatle izlemeye devam edecek ve gerektiğinde uygun önlemleri alacağız." değerlendirmesinde bulunmuştu. Avrupa Yayın Birliği (EBU), Ukrayna'da başlayan savaş nedeniyle 2022'den bu yana Rusya'yı yarışmadan men etmesine rağmen benzer bir kararı İsrail için almaması nedeniyle "ikiyüzlülük" ve "çifte standart" eleştirilerinin hedefi olmuştu. EBU, Aralık 2025'te yapılan genel kurul toplantısında İsrail’in 2026 Eurovision Şarkı Yarışması’na katılımını engellememişti. Bu kararın ardından birçok Avrupa ülkesinde boykot çağrıları yapılmıştı. Bunun üzerine İspanya, Slovenya, İrlanda, İzlanda ve Hollanda, Eurovision'dan çekilme kararı almıştı. Gelen tepkiler üzerine EBU, 70. yıl dönümü kapsamında yapılması planlanan özel "Avrupa Turnesi"ni "öngörülemeyen zorluklar" nedeniyle iptal ettiğini duyurmuştu. Öte yandan, 2024 Eurovision'un kazananı İsviçreli sanatçı Nemo, İsrail’in katılımına tepki olarak ödülünü iade edeceğini açıklarken, 1994'teki yarışmanın galibi İrlandalı Charlie McGettigan da aynı yönde karar almıştı.
