Saturday afternoon, Chicago Sky player DiJonai Carrington hard fouled Indiana Fever forward Sophie Cunningham around the neck. Carrington then blamed her ejection for the aggressive play on – wait for it – "white privilege" in a social media post from the locker room.
While social media users have likely seen the viral clip and post by now, those watching the game on ESPN may be unaware of the full story.
A player clotheslining another while she goes up for a layup, and then accusing the officials of racism, is a story on its own. But the players involved make the situation more notable.
Cunningham is currently embroiled in controversy after stating that female athletes should not have to compete against biological males. (How dare she?) Her comments have since become a topic of discussion beyond sports, namely on cable news.
Carrington, meanwhile, has a history of controversy involving dirty play. She previously jammed her finger into Caitlin Clark's eye during a game after posting on social media about Clark's supposed "white privilege."

Despite all this, ESPN showed just one replay immediately after the foul and did not address the play at all during its halftime show, which focused solely on the Fever and Sky game itself.
Imagine a fight breaking out during an NFL game involving two of the league's most controversial players, followed by one of them making an accusation involving racism on social media from the locker room. It would be difficult to imagine the broadcast ignoring that development.

Yet the game ended without ESPN's broadcast ever reporting on Carrington's post.
ESPN did not respond to an inquiry from Fox News Digital/OutKick asking about its coverage and whether the broadcast team was aware of the post.
A person familiar with ESPN's broadcast plans told OutKick on background that the broadcast addressed Carrington’s Flagrant 2 foul and ejection during the game, but did not plan to address off-court developments during the remainder of the broadcast.
The broadcast eventually showed another replay of the incident during the second half, but only while comparing it to a separate hard foul that was nowhere near as egregious.

It's not difficult to surmise why this incident wouldn't be of immediate interest to ESPN. It complicates the network's preferred narrative.
According to several ESPN commentators, the WNBA has a racial problem. They say Clark, Cunningham, and their white fans are co-opting the WNBA to spew hatred toward Black women and lesbians. It's all a lie.
The reality is quite obvious. Some of the Black women in the league and many of the people covering it are jealous of and bitter toward the popularity of Clark and Cunningham. Thus, they try to cope with their popularity by blaming it on racism and white privilege.
Carrington's hard foul is more proof, visible proof, of who the real bigots and aggressors are. It's just not the group ESPN wants its audience to think.
In fact, it's an open question who will be the first ESPN personality to defend Carrington and blame Cunningham and/or racism. Some of the options include Monica McNutt, David Dennis Jr., Chiney Ogwumike, and Stephen A. Smith.
We will go with McNutt.
Still, anyone dealing in good faith knows the truth. Carrington is a dirty player. She committed a dangerous foul. She is not a victim of racism. She is an aggressor who seemingly has a serious issue with white women.
Carrington should be suspended for multiple games.
