The suspects then covered her in a liquid that ‘smelled an awful lot like gasoline’, but when she brought this to their attention it was allegedly ignored. One of the suspects then lit a lighter and the victim suffered extreme burns as her body caught ablaze. The actors reportedly fled the room and someone rushed in with an extinguisher. The severe injuries saw the woman spend months in a specialised burn unit and was hospitalised for a lengthy period to recover. She also reported significant psychological distress as a result of the injuries. The prosecution believes the crime could constitute negligent injury and is seeking two years in prison for the three defendants, while the victim's private prosecution is requesting three years.
