İsrail’in Gazze’ye yönelik saldırıları sırasında daha önce de yaralandığını ve bir bacağını kaybettiğini aktaran Ebu Herbid, son saldırıda yaralı haldeyken İsrail askerleri tarafından alıkonulduğunu, daha sonra İsrail’in "Guantanamo’su" olarak anılan Sde Teiman askeri üssüne götürüldüğünü anlattı. Ebu Herbid, ampute olmasının ya da yaralı halde bulunmasının kendisine yönelik muameleyi hafifletmediğini, tam tersine artırdığını belirterek, "Yaralı ve engelli olmama rağmen daha ağır işkence gördüm." dedi. Burada çok ağır koşullarda tutulduğunu ifade eden Ebu Herbid, engelli olmasına rağmen durumunun hiçbir şekilde dikkate alınmadığını, aksine diğer tutuklulardan daha fazla şiddete maruz kaldığını savundu. İsrail askerlerinin kendisine hakaret ettiğini ve fiziksel şiddet uyguladığını dile getiren Ebu Herbid, "Engelli ve yaralı halim dikkate alınmadı. Ayakta durmazsam biber gazı sıkmakla tehdit ettiler." diye konuştu. Gazze’den alınan uzuv kaybı yaşamış engellilerin özellikle bir hapishaneden diğerine nakledilirken ağır hakaret ve aşağılamalara maruz kaldığını dile getiren Ebu Herbid, askerlerin kendilerine, "Sen Gazzeli misin, nereye gidiyorsun, bacağın nerede, Gazze’de mi bıraktın?" gibi ifadelerle hakaret ettiğini söyledi. Hapishane koşullarını "cehennem" diye nitelendiren Ebu Herbid, yetersiz yemek, kötü muamele, baskınlar, korkutma ve sağlık hizmetlerine erişim eksikliği nedeniyle tutukluların çok ağır şartlar altında yaşamaya çalıştığını belirtti. Ebu Herbid, "Sde Teiman, tüm Filistinliler için, özellikle engelli ve yaşlı esirler için bir cehennemdi. Orada insan bazen ölümün daha merhametli olduğunu düşünüyor." ifadelerini kullandı. Sağlık durumunun hapishane sürecinde daha da kötüleştiğini belirten Ebu Herbid, ciddi ameliyat gerektiren komplikasyonlar yaşadığını ancak gerekli tedaviye ulaşamadığını söyledi. Yaralarının ilerlediğini ve vücudundaki platinlerin bulunduğu bölgenin de zarar gördüğünü aktaran Ebu Herbid, tedavi edilmeden bırakıldığını kaydetti. İsrail hapishanelerinde bulunan esirlerin durumundan büyük endişe duyduğunu vurgulayan Ebu Herbid, içeride gençler, yaşlılar, hastalar ve ağır yaralıların bulunduğunu, ailelerin de dışarıda aynı çaresizliği yaşadığını dile getirdi. "Filistinli Esirler Günü"nü hatırlatan Gazzeli eski esir, şöyle devam etti: "Bugün Filistinli Esirler Günü. Ama biz esirleri hapishanede bıraktık. Allah onlara yardım etsin, esaretlerini sona erdirsin; ailelerine de sabır versin, kendilerine de sabır versin. İnsan bu duyguları, bu günü nasıl tarif edeceğini bilemiyor. Bugün hem onlar hem de aileleri için çok zor. İsrail hapishanelerinde, gözaltı ve hapislerdeki esirlerin hayatı tam anlamıyla cehennem. Hatta ölüm, yaşadıklarımızdan daha merhametli. Çünkü biz kapatılmış durumdayız; yemek az, işkence var, sorunlar var, baskınlar var. Bütün bunların içinde hayat diye bir şey yok. Bu bir cehennem. Çok zor, çok ağır bir hayat." İsrail’de tartışılan idam yasasına da değinen Ebu Herbid, bunun tutuklular için büyük bir tehdit oluşturduğunu belirterek uluslararası topluma çağrıda bulundu.
