Emily Carver left stunned after true cost of Boriswave migration surge revealed: ‘What on Earth were they thinking!’

Emily Carver has been left stunned after the long-term cost of the so-called “Boriswave” migration surge has been laid bare.

Speaking to GB News, journalist David Shipley broke down the financial burden of the influx of some 1.6million and 2.2million people under the post-Brexit health and care visa expansion.

Mr Shipley argued ministers had attempted to fill “a few tens of thousands of places in the care sector” but had instead “imported 600-odd thousand people, half of whom were just dependants, who weren't even working.”

He warned that the estimated lifetime cost of granting settlement to those who arrived during the period could reach between £600billion and £700billion, according to figures from Reform UK.

He said: “The Boriswave is essentially a device for importing a huge number of people who will cost us a vast amount of money over their lifetimes if they're allowed to settle… That will be a disaster for this country.”

Emily reacted in disbelief, asking: “What on Earth were they thinking at the Home Office and the previous government?!”

“It's a really good question,” Mr Shipley replied.
