By WILL POTTER, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 17:02, 18 June 2026 | Updated: 17:16, 18 June 2026 Gavin Newsom made a staggering confession about Donald Trump's presidency as he chatted with Justin Trudeau at a World Cup game, according to a lip reading expert.  The California Governor was caught on camera in a tense conversation with the former Canadian Prime Minister at the USA's game against Paraguay, appearing to discuss Trump as a 'far better president.'  As he shook his head, Trudeau said: 'Listen, I can tell you one thing I've learned from it,' according to the Daily Mail's expert lipreader Nicola Hickling.  'I was never really in the primary. You can't see it because they're rivalries, you can't. It's been four months,' he continued.  Although it is unclear what exactly the pair were discussing, Trump notably started the war in Iran four months ago on February 28.  Newsom then responded with his back to the camera, whispering in Trudeau's ear - saying something that led Trudeau to clasp his hands together before they both offered rare praise for Trump. Trudeau said: 'Yeah, Trump can beat them, but there's no way, no way out of it', according to Hickling's lip reading.  Newsom responded: 'He will. He will survive. The California Governor tore into the Vice President after Vance appeared as co-host on Fox News show The Five, launching an opening insult at a possible 2028 showdown.  Newsom, 58, replied to an X post with footage of Vance segueing to a segment that explored how dad jokes may be 'fundamental to parenting.' Journalist Aaron Rupar joked in a post that Vance, 41, was 'auditioning to be a Fox host apparently.' 'Makes sense. JD is going to need a job in 2028 since he won't be president,' Newsom replied. 'JD Vance can’t even defend Trump’s economy with a straight face,' he wrote in another post that contained footage of an exchange Vance had Tuesday with the hosts of The View. 'Maybe that’s because Americans are getting crushed by it. Gas. Groceries. Inflation. ALL UP!' Newsom wrote.
