Elderly man dies after he was allegedly stabbed during rental dispute - with witnesses saying he broke into his own house after tenants locked him out

Horrified neighbours called police to a home on Lubach Street in Beenleigh, south of Brisbane, about 4.45pm on Tuesday. Witnesses claimed the 66-year-old man had tried to enter his home after work, only to find two other occupants had locked him out, the Courier Mail reported. It's understood the man kicked the door down and went in, where he was confronted by a man and woman who allegedly hit him over the head with dinner plates and stabbed him. Several neighbours ran to help the 66-year-old, who was well-known on the street. One witness recalled a neighbour 'screaming for help' after seeing the victim 'bleeding out'. 'There was an altercation with the roommates who were asked several times to vacate the premises, they wouldn't leave,' he said. 'I have come up, opened the gate and seen (the man) lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds in his lungs, multiple stab wounds in his back. A 66-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Beenleigh, southeast Queensland, about 4.45pm on Tuesday Witnesses claimed the man was attacked by hi two roommates, a man and woman 'Two police officers then attended the scene and they've rushed in, tried to help him, do CPR, tried to work on him, but then they lost him.' Queensland Police confirmed 'a man and a woman are assisting police with their enquiries'. 'Investigations are ongoing and there is no further information available at this time,' it said.
