Egyptian actress Fatima Koshari dies at 68
ALBAWABA - Egyptian actress Fatima Koshari passed away on Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, at the age of 68, after a recent decline in her health due to a battle with illness.
The late actress was a familiar face in the Egyptian art scene, known for her supporting roles and simple, down-to-earth characters that characterized her long career in film and television.
Her real name was Fatima El-Sayed Awadallah, but she became known as "Fatima Koshari" because of her original occupation, selling koshari (a traditional Egyptian dish) from a cart she ran with her husband. This nickname stuck with her even after she entered the world of acting.
She began her artistic career in the late 1980s as a silent extra, making her debut in the film "The Struggle of the Grandchildren" in 1989. She also appeared in the film "The Execution Squad" for a very modest fee at the time, in addition to early theatrical roles, including in the Kuwaiti play "Crisis and Transgression."
