Dubai rains: Volunteers help recover 30 cars, return 279 number plates from flooded areas
Dubai Police volunteers stepped in to support residents across neighbourhoods during the recent heavy rains, returning 279 lost vehicle number plates and helping recover 30 stranded cars from flooded areas.
A total of 49 volunteers from the 'Your Neighbourhood Officer' initiative were deployed across 77 locations, working alongside response teams in areas including Al Qusais, Bur Dubai, Al Muraqqabat, Al Barsha and Al Rashidiya.
Dubai Police said the volunteers helped drain flooded streets, supported stranded motorists and collected number plates dislodged during flooding, ensuring they were returned to police stations.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Mansoori, Director of the General Department of Community Happiness at Dubai Police, said the initiative highlighted the strength of cooperation between authorities and residents during challenging conditions.
The volunteer effort came amid a wave of community support seen across the UAE during the adverse weather, with residents stepping in to help one another alongside authorities. In Dubai, an Emirati citizen opened his home to allow stranded motorists to bypass a flooded street, while in another instance, a group of residents braved heavy rain and strong winds to clear large garbage bins blown onto a main road, removing hazards for passing traffic. The widely shared moments reflected the strong sense of solidarity and shared responsibility that defined the response on the ground.
The 'Your Neighbourhood Officer' initiative is part of Dubai Police’s community policing programmes aimed at strengthening ties with residents, improving communication and encouraging proactive collaboration to address local issues.
