Dubai Police warn motorists: reckless driving will face strict action
Dubai: Dubai Police have issued a strong warning to motorists against dangerous driving behaviours that threaten road safety, stressing that violations will be met with strict legal action.
Brigadier Jumaa Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said recent videos submitted by the public show drivers engaging in reckless and irresponsible conduct that could have led to serious accidents and put lives at risk.

He highlighted key violations, including failure to give way to faster vehicles, sudden lane changes, tailgating without maintaining a safe distance, and deliberately obstructing other motorists or forcing entry into lanes. Such actions, he said, reflect a clear disregard for traffic laws and public safety.
“These behaviours are among the leading causes of severe traffic accidents,” he added, noting that they can result in sudden loss of vehicle control and chain collisions, potentially causing serious injuries or fatalities. He also warned that reckless driving can escalate into dangerous confrontations between motorists.
Brigadier bin Suwaidan reaffirmed that Dubai Police will take firm action against offenders, stressing that road safety remains a top priority. “Any behaviour that endangers lives will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law,” he said.

He added that such violations not only endanger drivers but also put other road users at risk, disrupt traffic flow, and undermine broader efforts to enhance safety and community security.
Dubai Police confirmed that monitoring efforts — both on-ground patrols and smart surveillance systems — will be intensified, urging motorists to drive responsibly and remain fully aware of the risks their actions pose on the road.
