Dramatic video captured the confrontation inside Terminal 2, where punches were thrown across a customer service counter as airport staff, security personnel and members of the group became embroiled in the melee. At one point, a man ripped a crowd-control stanchion from the floor and swung the metal pole toward airport employees before another worker appeared to grab him from behind in an attempt to restrain him. Another person behind the customer service counter appeared to shove several people before throwing what looked to be a bottle of water into the crowd.  The man carrying the stanchion was later seen rushing toward another individual after they emerged from behind the counter as shouting continued around them. Witnesses said the group, reportedly members of the same family, had been drinking aboard an Aeroméxico flight before takeoff on Wednesday. Mexico City International Airport later confirmed authorities were called to restore order. 'Regarding information circulating on social media showing several people fighting in the departure lounge of Terminal 2 at this airport, we wish to clarify the following,' the airport said in a statement. 'In accordance with its powers, this airport requested the intervention of the relevant authorities, who brought the individuals involved before the Civic Court. 'This was done to preserve order and prevent further disruption to other passengers and airport facilities.'
