Drivers have been warned of an overnight motorhome parking ban in Llandudno under sweeping new traffic plans which could also bring in more double yellow lines and parking restrictions across the town...

The ban forms part of a wider package of proposed traffic and parking changes by the council affecting Llandudno and Craig y Don.

Plans include new parking restrictions, changes to loading arrangements and a new one-way system on Trinity Avenue.

Drivers have been warned of an overnight motorhome parking ban in Llandudno under sweeping new traffic plans which could also bring in more double yellow lines and parking restrictions across the town.

Conwy County Borough Council has unveiled plans to stop motorhomes parking between midnight and 8am along a 465-metre stretch of Abbey Road, between Church Walks and West Parade.

The ban forms part of a wider package of proposed traffic and parking changes by the council affecting Llandudno and Craig y Don.

Plans include new parking restrictions, changes to loading arrangements and a new one-way system on Trinity Avenue.

The proposals have already faced criticism from local Senedd Member Janet Finch-Saunders, who warned that the scale of the changes could have an impact on residents, visitors and businesses.

"I am extremely concerned by the scale of these proposed restrictions and understand why many residents and businesses are worried about the potential impact they could have on everyday life in Llandudno," she said.

The council is also proposing to make Trinity Avenue one-way, with some parts of the road also subject to a complete ban on parking and loading at all times.

More than 20 roads could also be hit by new "no waiting at any time" restrictions, including Clarence Road, Nant y Gamar Road, Craig y Don Parade, Queen's Road, Abbey Road, Mostyn Avenue, Bryniau Road and St Mary's Road.

Meanwhile, parts of St Andrews Avenue and Colwyn Road, the B5115, would also have waiting and loading prohibited at all times.

A section of Gloddaeth Street would become a loading-only area from Monday to Saturday between 9am and 5pm.

New restrictions are proposed on Clarence Drive during school drop-off and pick-up times, with waiting and loading set to be prohibited between 8.30am and 9.30am and again between 2.30pm and 4pm on weekdays.

At Llys Maelgwn, a limited-waiting bay would allow motorists to park for up to two hours, with no return during the same period. Some existing restrictions would be removed under the plans, including certain time-limited parking rules on Jacksons Lane and Clarence Drive.

The proposals would also remove a current "no stopping" restriction on Clarence Drive near its junction with Clarence Road.

There would be exemptions for disabled badge holders and vehicles carrying out activities such as loading, boarding and maintenance.

Ms Finch-Saunders said she accepted that road safety measures could sometimes be necessary, but argued that changes should be based on evidence and remain proportionate.

She added: "Measures of this scale risk creating unnecessary difficulties for residents, affecting local businesses and making it harder for people to access the town."

The proposed traffic order has been drawn up under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

A public consultation is now open, and anyone wishing to object has until August 28 to submit their views.

Ms Finch-Saunders has urged residents and businesses affected by the plans to take part before the council makes its final decision.
