Published: 09:59, 5 July 2026 | Updated: 10:09, 5 July 2026 Dr Alex George’s mystery fiancée is a newly qualified NHS doctor nearly ten years his junior, the Daily Mail can reveal. The former Love Island contestant turned mental health campaigner and podcaster, 35, has previously kept the identity of his girlfriend discreet.  Until recently, when sharing snaps of their relationship with his more than two million Instagram followers, Dr Alex has only ever done so picturing the back of his partner’s head or placing an emoji over her face. But he delighted fans when he announced his engagement to his mystery girlfriend, sharing a stunning catalogue of photos of the moment he got down on one knee in Santorini, Greece. Though the heartwarming snaps, which he captioned, ‘I found her’, showed his now fiancée’s face. The Daily Mail has now found his partner is Ellie Migliaccio, 26, who finished her medical degree at the University of Cardiff last year. The London-based doctor was born in Lincoln to parents who previously served as co-directors of IT consultancy firm Migliore Solutions, which was dissolved in October 2021 after more than 15 years of trading.  They live in a detached house with an estimated value of more than £1million in a  quaint Cotswolds village.  Ellie attended the sixth form at the prestigious Pate’s Grammar School in nearby Cheltenham, which is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The co-educational institution has also been named State Secondary School of the Year twice by The Sunday Times’s Good Schools Guide - once in 2012 and again in 2020. He delighted fans when he announced his engagement to his mystery girlfriend, sharing a stunning catalogue of photos of the moment he got down on one knee in Santorini, Greece   She has previously spoken to the school for an article for their website about her experience qualifying as a doctor. Ellie was devastated when she did not receive the A-Level results she needed to be able to accept an offer of a place at medical school. ‘But I was determined medicine was my vocation,’ she said. ‘As long as I had air in my lungs I was never going to give up my ambition of becoming a doctor.’ Gaining a place at Cardiff University to study neuroscience through clearing, she worked hard to win a place on a different course that would allow her to eventually progress on to graduate medicine. She won a place on a biomedical science course, after finishing her exams in the top 14 of her year, moving across for the last two years of her undergraduate. Finishing with first-class honours, Ellie then progressed on to the graduate medicine course she had dreamed of, at Bangor University, also serving on the committee of its medical society. ‘When the acceptance email came through, I burst into tears,’ she said. ‘Everything I had worked so hard for and believed in had finally come true.’ Ellie also took on an admirable range of extracurriculars alongside her studies, including dance, netball and the Cardiff Uni Otter Project, as well as volunteering at a care home and mentoring younger students. Her passion for medicine and considerable time spent in Wales will surely have become a means of bonding with her now fiance, Dr Alex. From the village of Nantgaredig, near Carmarthen, Wales, he studied medicine at the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, based out of the University of Exeter, graduating in 2015. Until recently, when sharing snaps of their relationship with his more than two million Instagram followers, Dr Alex has only ever done so picturing the back of his partner’s head or placing an emoji over her face They live in a detached house with an estimated value of more than £1million in a quaint Cotswolds village Dr Alex was working in emergency medicine at the University Hospital Lewisham in south London when he appeared on the fourth series of Love Island in 2018. His medical background and slightly shyer personality meant he was considered a more unique candidate for the ITV2 dating reality show - and he quickly delighted viewers with his good looks, sense of humour and quiet charm. But he did not find a long-term romantic connection on the series – and a series of relationships he embarked on outside the villa also sadly did not last. His exes include Ibiza Weekender star Amelia Bath, who he dated from 2018 to 2020, and mental health advocate Ellie Hecht, who he was in a relationship with for around a year from June 2021. It meant fans were all the happier when he shared news of his recent engagement online, with the caption: 'I found her. The ring… The moment… My forever.' Alex was soon flooded with messages of congratulations from friends and family in the comments. Celebrities including fellow former Love Islanders Tasha Ghouri and Josh Denzel, presenter and activist Katie Piper and broadcaster Stacey Dooley also expressed their well wishes. Dr Alex returned to working as a doctor part-time after his time on Love Island, alongside making regular appearances on ITV morning shows to discuss his passion for mental health awareness. He eventually left medicine entirely to focus on his campaigning, starting The Waiting Room with Dr Alex in 2019, a podcast which saw him interview health and wellbeing professionals. In July 2020, he tragically lost his youngest brother Llŷr to suicide – and the devastating loss has only seen him expand his mental health campaigning work further. The former Love Islander has also previously been consistently open about his own struggles, revealing in February this year he had been diagnosed with autism. He updated his Instagram followers, after previously sharing he was undergoing the diagnostic assessment process. Dr Alex said the news 'felt raw', and while it will take a while to process, it will help him understand 'why I am the way I am'. Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterised by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication. He was also diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in September 2022 – and then last year, he was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). After discovering he had autism, Dr Alex wrote on social media: 'I actually don't know where to start or how to even approach this, so I'm just going to say it. I am autistic. 'I was diagnosed recently after going through the in-depth assessment process. Sitting and reading the 300-odd-page report was the most surreal and strange experience of my life. 'I had to take some time to let it all sink in. The words "gosh I really do sound autistic" did come to my mind. 'I can't explain how weird it is to be able to understand what I never could see. I feel a little unnerved, confused and unsteady I guess. ‘Not because I think it's a bad thing or even a good thing, it's just a lot, you know? 'My psychiatrist, who has encouraged me for a long time to be assessed, said to me that I will only understand the value of the diagnosis when I go through the assessment process. ‘And I get that now 100 per cent. 'I can finally see and begin to understand why I am the way I am. I have all the pieces of the jigsaw at last. It only took 34 years.' No comments have so far been submitted.
