Donald Trump declares peace deal with Iran 'largely negotiated' and claims Strait of Hormuz 'will be opened'
Donald Trump has declared peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran have been "largely negotiated", and that the Strait of Hormuz "will be opened".
In a post on Truth Social, the President said: "An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalisation between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other countries.
"Final aspects and details of the deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly."
He adds that "in addition to many other elements of the Agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened".
The post comes after what the President describes as a "very good call" with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan and Bahrain.
Mr Trump says he also had a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu that "went very well".
