The President took to Truth Social to announce that the strikes would not go ahead as countries in the region urged him to hold off until the "perimeters" of a deal were agreed to.
Mr Trump's announcement follows a week of speculation the President was "considering a massive attack" against Iran.
In a statement on Truth Social, the President said the US was "locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran".
"Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to," the President said.
"This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat."
