The alleged gunman who targeted Donald Trump listed bizarre apologies and excuses in his manifesto. Accused gunman Cole Allen sent the manifesto to family members about 10 minutes before the attack at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. The lengthy 1,052-word manifesto outlined the gunman's apparent "rules of engagement" for the Saturday shooting and said it was his duty to target members of the Trump administration. Teacher Allen is alleged to have started off his manifesto by "apologising to everyone whose trust I abused". He continued: "I apologise to my parents for saying I had an interview without specifying it was for 'Most Wanted'. "I apologise to my colleagues and students for saying I had a personal emergency (by the time anyone reads this, I probably most certainly do need to go to the ER, but I can hardly call that not a self-inflicted status." He the apologised to people he travelled next to, workers who handled his luggage as well as people at the hotel who he put in danger. Allen is alleged to have continued: "I apologise to everyone who was abused and/or murdered before this, to all those who suffered before I was able to attempt this, to all who may still suffer after, regardless of my success or failure." Allen was arrested after he reportedly rushed through a security checkpoint and shot an agent at the dinner in Washington DC. He was allegedly armed with firearms and knives, according to police. Trump and his first lady Melania Trump were evacuated from the event as gunshots rang out outside the event where some 2,500 people were in attendance. Allen, 31, has been identified as the suspect and was said to be from Torrance, a suburb of Los Angeles. The manifesto listed administration officials as targets with Allen reportedly stating he was no longer "willing to permit a paedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes," reports the New York Post . Trump later hit out at claims made in the manifesto, telling 60 Minutes "I'm not a paedophile." The US President has been the target of multiple assassination attempts, the most famous being when he was on the campaign trail in 2024. Trump was struck in the ear while gunman Thomas Crooks took aim at the Butler, Pennsylvania, event on July 13 that year. While Crooks was shot and killed, many questions remained over the actions of secret service members who left a blind spot so close to Trump.
