Doctors who treated Lindsay Clancy's children will recount desperate efforts to save them as 'America's saddest murder trial' enters its second week: Live updates

By KATRINA SCHOLLENBERGER, US HEAD OF LIVE NEWS and RACHEL SHARP, CRIME CORRESPONDENT Defense attorney Kevin Reddington said he expects prosecutors in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial to continue calling doctors who provided lifesaving treatment to her children on the night they were killed. The trial entered its second week at Plymouth County Superior Court as Clancy faces charges of murdering her three children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan by strangling them with exercise bands at the family's Duxbury home in January 2023. On Friday, the Massachusetts mom sobbed as doctors delivered harrowing testimony about their attempts to save her children in hospital after first responders ushered them away from the scene. Clancy has pleaded not guilty in the murder trial citing postpartum psychosis, while the prosecution maintains the killings were premeditated and deliberate.  Clancy had been prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications in the months leading up to the tragedy. Her ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, has since filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against the clinicians who treated her. Follow the Daily Mail for more updates...  Lindsay Clancy sobbed silently, wiping tears from her eyes, as doctors testified about their efforts to save her children on Friday. Dr Mark Joseph Tenerowicz testified about three-year-old Dawson's injuries on the night he was killed. Tenerowicz said Dawson had bruises on his leg and ruptured blood vessels on his face. Dr Benjamin Kaufman, who treated eight-month-old Callan, said the infant's heart had stopped and he was receiving breaths from a bag when he arrived at the hospital. Callan regained a heartbeat, but was never able to breathe on his own 'At no point did he exhibit any brain function,' Kaufman said. The prosecution called on it's first witness, physician Michael Snyder at Beth Israel hospital, who was on call the night the children were admitted. He was assigned to treat Cora Clancy, five years old, when the children arrived to the emergency room. All three children were in cardiac arrest. Cora was immediately worked on with CPR and a defibrillator as she arrived. Cora was not breathing on her own and doctors noted she did not have a heartbeat. She had a ‘blue tint’ to the skin which indicated a lack of oxygen. She also had marks on her neck, her pupils were enlarged and there was a small amount of blood around her nose. The prosecution still has yet to call on several witnesses including crime lab analysts, doctors and staff at Boston Children's hospital, staff at Massachusetts General Hospital as well as South Shore Health and Brigham and Women's hospital. Jurors will also hear from witnesses who are experts in psychology, forensic and clinical psychiatry and digital forensics as well as Clancy's family, friends and acquaintances. Lindsay Clancy arrived at Plymouth County Superior Court today and is sat at the defense table with her attorney, dressed in a rose colored short-sleeve top. Clancy’s parents Mike and Paula Musgrove are also present. The Musgroves have been in court every day since the trial began, supporting their daughter throughout the difficult proceedings. Over two days of testimony, Patrick Clancy described Lindsay's mental health leading up to their children's murders. He said that after the births of their first two children, Cora and Dawson, Lindsay experienced anxiety about going back to work and 'had a really hard time being separated' from their kids. After the birth of their youngest son Callan, Lindsay started showing signs of anxiety in September 2022, about a month before she was supposed to return to work. In September 2022, Patrick testified that Lindsay informed him she wanted to start taking Zoloft. However, Patrick said, 'She kept getting worse and worse,' and had trouble sleeping. In December 2022, Patrick said she started taking a new medication, and she began to spiral. 'That was really where her big spiral started. She started to lose a lot of weight, and she became very depressed. She was having a really hard time,' Patrick said. He added that around that same time Lindsay told him she was starting to experience intrusive thoughts about harming herself and their children. 'She described thoughts of hurting the kids or them having some sort of ailment,' Patrick said. Lindsay was hospitalized on December 31, 2022, for experiencing thoughts of suicide. She killed the children 19 days after she was discharged.
