Distraught family say they were savaged by bed bugs while sleeping at Paris Las Vegas hotel... but owner says there was no evidence of the pests

What was supposed to be a fun family trip on the world-famous strip quickly turned into a disturbing ordeal for Aaron Kinsella, 48, and his family, after his wife woke up on Saturday in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel with a series of mysterious bites on her arm. At first, the duo thought it was nothing more than a mosquito bite. But as the morning went on, the itching intensified and the family began to fear something far worse was lurking in their hotel room. 'I was just having breakfast with the family, and then all of a sudden she goes, "Wow, my arm is really itchy,"' Kinsella told 8 News Now. 'She looks over and she’s got, you know, three bites.' The bites continued to worsen throughout the day, becoming painful and increasingly uncomfortable. Concerned, the family returned to their room at Paris Las Vegas and began rummaging through the bedding. What they say they found left them alarmed. The family photographed the sheets and room, claiming they discovered what appeared to be signs of bed bugs. They also contacted a virtual doctor to get a second opinion on the bites and their symptoms. A family insists they were devoured by bed bugs during their stay at the Paris Las Vegas on Wednesday, but the hotel has refuted the claim saying that experts found no trace of the pests Aaron Kinsella,48, said his family became alarmed when his wife woke up on Saturday to find multiple bites puncturing her skin The wife had automatically assumed the bites were from a mosquito but upon further discomfort began to worry they were in fact bed bugs (stock image) Kinsella said he immediately alerted hotel staff, who asked him to complete an incident report. The family later shared the report with 8 News Now. The hotel agreed to move the family to another room to rectify the situation, but Kinsella was stunned when he discovered the replacement room was on the same floor as the original. He said he specifically asked to be moved to a different tower or floor, fearing the problem could be more widespread. Instead, the family began inspecting the new room themselves. 'We moved to the new room and basically started inspection on that room, not trusting what was going on,' Kinsella said. 'And we found some of those same remnants on those sheets as well.' Feeling unsafe, the family decided to abandon their stay at Paris Las Vegas and booked another room at Signature at MGM Grand. For Kinsella, the incident was about more than an unpleasant hotel experience - it was about whether guests can trust a major resort to provide a basic standard of safety. The family said a paying customer should never have to question whether the room they are sleeping in is clean and safe, describing their experience at Paris Las Vegas as one that challenged their basic rights as hotel guests. The family shared images with the press after they received minimal efforts from the hotel to rectify the situation, being moved to a room on the same floor as the original problematic room The Paris Las Vegas inspection report ultimately found no confirmation of the beg bugs and rebutted the claims casting doubt over the allegations The inspection comes as Las Vegas hotels face growing scrutiny over bed bug complaints with health records in recent years  'You leave us no choice,' Kinsella declared. 'This place is unsafe and you can’t even provide a clean space for us.' But Caesars Entertainment, the company behind Paris Las Vegas, strongly disputes the family’s allegations. The hotel operator provided inspection reports showing it hired PREMIER Pest Control, a Henderson-based pest-control company, to examine both rooms following the complaint. According to the reports, inspectors found 'no evidence to substantiate the guest’s report.' Caesars told the Daily Mail its properties undergo frequent inspections and preventative pest-control programs carried out by independent experts.  The company also stated that both rooms had been cleaned before inspection and were returned to housekeeping after being cleared. The allegations come after previous reports involving bed bugs at other Las Vegas resorts. 8 News Now previously reported that inspectors found bed bugs at the Horseshoe and Caesars Palace- two other Caesars Entertainment properties - after obtaining records through a public records request. The dispute has also renewed questions about what protections hotel guests have when they believe they have been exposed to an infestation. According to the guests the hotel was one that challenged human rights. 'You leave us no choice,' Kinsella declared, 'this place is unsafe and you can’t even provide a clean space for us.' Brian Virag, a Southern California attorney who specializes in bed bug cases, told the outlet that guests have the right to expect a safe and sanitary room. He urged travelers to inspect their accommodations immediately after arriving, checking mattress seams, sheets, headboards and other hiding places where bed bugs may be found. Virag also advised guests not to immediately place their clothing into hotel drawers until they have inspected the room, as luggage and belongings can become a way for pests to spread.
