Bakanlıktan, Yunanistan’ın Ege ve Doğu Akdeniz'deki harita faaliyetlerine ilişkin yazılı açıklama yapıldı. "Yunanistan Balıkçılık Denetim Müdürlüğünün resmi internet sitesinde, Yunanistan’ın Ege’de ve Doğu Akdeniz’de yetki sahibi olmadığı bazı alanlarda balıkçılığa yasak bölgeler tesis ettiği ve uluslararası hukuka aykırı çeşitli haritalar yayımlandığı tespit edilmiştir." ifadesine yer verilen açıklamada, Türkiye ile Yunanistan arasında Ege ve Akdeniz’de var olmayan, hayali deniz sınırları çizen ve buralarda Türk deniz yetki alanlarını ihlal eden haritaların geçerliliğinin olmadığı kaydedildi. Yunanistan’ın 6 deniz mili genişliğindeki karasularının ötesinde, yetki sahibi olmadığı yerler ile deniz alanlarında ve uluslararası sularda, balıkçılık faaliyetlerine getirdiği gayrihukuki kısıtlamaların Türkiye bakımından keza yok hükmünde olduğu hatırlatılan açıklamada, "Türkiye, Türk balıkçılarının uluslararası hukuka ve tarihi haklara dayalı meşru faaliyetlerine getirilebilecek hiçbir tek taraflı ve gayrihukuki tasarrufu kabul etmeyecektir." ifadesi kullanıldı.
