Digital Schools’ Students Excel in WikiChallenge International Competition

For excelling at the global WikiChallenge 2026 competition, Orange Jordan Foundation celebrated the recognition of three schools under the "Digital Schools” program sponsored by the Orange Foundation (Global), the social innovation advocate and corporate social responsibility arm of the Orange Group, in collaboration with Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah initiative, "Madrasati”.

Seven schools under the umbrella of the program participated in the competition, showcasing remarkable creativity that demonstrates the importance of integrating technology into education.

The "Digital Schools” program has equipped 10 public schools across Jordan with 15 digital education packages, each containing 25 tablets and 30 various digital devices. More than 3600 students from the first to sixth grades benefited from the program, demonstrating the company’s dedication to building a rising generation and driving meaningful transformation within the Kingdom’s educational journey.

Honoring them, Sumaya Primary Mixed School was awarded for its article on Wadi Rum, along with Sama Al-Rousan Elementary Mixed School for its article on Petra, and Asma Bint Yazeed Secondary School for its article on Umm Qais. This achievement reflects the Orange Foundation’s commitment to its social responsibility and its continued efforts to empower students, foster digital knowledge, and create a positive, sustainable impact on society.

The annual challenge, launched in 2017, involves collaboration between students to write articles in an encyclopedic style, shedding light on their local regions, cultures, and landmarks. This content will later be published and shared via "Vikidia”, a free and simplified online encyclopedia designed specifically for children and teenagers.

Students aged 9 to 13 who are enrolled in the Orange Foundation’s "Digital Schools” in several countries across Africa and the Middle East are participating in the competition, which provides a unique interactive experience that teaches students how to build digital literacy and contribute to enhancing the content on the internet. Winning schools also receive EUR 2500 funds as a prize dedicated to support their growth.

Orange Jordan Foundation affirmed its pivotal role, as a trusted digital partner in the Kingdom, in continuing shaping the future of education through its comprehensive initiatives and programs that aim to empower youth with key digital skills, enhance the culture of teamwork, and support digital transformation in a way that advances the skills of the new generation for a better future. The Managing Director of Orange Foundation Jordan, Eng. Rana Al Dababneh, added that this achievement underscores the capabilities and creativity that Jordanian students unleash once they gain access to the necessary opportunities and tools. She further emphasized that it highlights the positive impact created by the "Digital Schools” program through unlocking students’ full potential and raising their confidence in their abilities, in addition to building a stronger sense of national pride by sharing Jordan’s heritage with the world.

For its part, Madrasati Initiative welcomed the participating schools' achievement, noting that the outstanding performance of "Digital Schools" students in a global challenge like WikiChallenge reflects the creative capabilities of Jordanian public-school students when given the right tools. Director of Madrasati, Tala Sweis, said the achievement builds on the initiative's vision to advance education and bridge the digital divide, describing the partnership with Orange Jordan as a model of fruitful collaboration in the education sector. Madrasati commended the Ministry of Education, teachers, and winning students for their creativity in documenting their heritage sites, reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that reinforce national identity and open new digital horizons for students.
