By REBECCA CAMBER, CRIME AND SECURITY EDITOR Published: 09:46, 11 July 2026 | Updated: 09:47, 11 July 2026 Detectives investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are preparing to travel to the United States to quiz Virginia Giuffre's family, her brother has revealed. Thames Valley Police want to talk to relatives of Ms Giuffre, who died in April last year, about her allegations of sexual assault against the former prince. Detectives are planning to visit her brother and sister-in-law, Sky and Amanda Roberts, in the coming weeks. The development comes as the family are now pressing for a meeting with Andy Burnham and hope to establish parliamentary hearings about Jeffrey Epstein in the UK to shed new light on the allegations against the disgraced late paedophile and his royal friend. Mr Roberts is calling for a public inquiry into Epstein's activities in Britain, similar to the House Oversight Committee in the US, which has questioned Epstein's famous friends including Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Last month detectives announced that a misconduct in public office probe into the former Duke of York is broad and 'complex', which could include sexual misconduct and corruption. Andrew was released under investigation following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office in February for allegedly passing sensitive information to Epstein, a paedophile who he was friends with for more than a decade. Former UK ambassador to the US, Peter Mandelson, was also released under investigation following his arrest on suspicion of misconduct. The former Prince Andrew pictured with Virginia Giuffre with Ghislaine Maxwell in the background Ms Giuffre's brother Sky Roberts with his wife Amanda during the Remembering Virginia Roberts Giuffre: A Butterfly Vigil on April 25, 2026 in Washington DC Four months after Andrew was arrested over claims that he leaked secrets to Jeffrey Epstein when he was the UK's trade envoy, officers are now interviewing witnesses about suspected criminal offences. Mr Roberts told journalists: 'I think the UK is at a really pivotal moment. I could see the same structure starting to get created there with the House Oversight Committee here. 'There are a lot of things going on with Parliament. We are actively working behind the scenes to guide that. Stay tuned. 'One hundred percent you will be seeing lots of UK stuff coming forward'. His wife, Amanda, added they were 'pushing for a formal inquiry in the UK'. Mr Roberts said this week that he would be coming to Britain soon to try and meet Mr Burnham and press for a public inquiry into Epstein's links to the UK. Speaking to reporters on a conference call, he said that he 'absolutely' wanted to meet with the Makerfield MP who is expected to become the next Prime Minister after Sir Keir Starmer announced he was stepping down. Mr Roberts said: 'I think the UK is at a really pivotal moment. I could see the same structure starting to get created there with the House Oversight Committee here. 'There are a lot of things going on with Parliament. We are actively working behind the scenes to guide that. Stay tuned. 'One hundred percent you will be seeing lots of UK stuff coming forward'. In 2022, Andrew paid a reputed £12million settlement to Ms Giuffre, who claimed he sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was 17. He has continued to deny any wrongdoing and said he did not remember meeting Ms Giuffre. Ms Giuffre took her own life in April 2025 at the age of 41 in her home near Perth, Western Australia. After he was arrested on his 66th birthday, Ms Giuffre's family issued a statement thanking Thames Valley and saying that 'our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty'. Last month Thames Valley Police made a public appeal for potential 'victim-survivors' to come forward. Officers are assessing allegations that another woman was sent to the UK in 2010 by Epstein for a sexual encounter with Andrew at Royal Lodge. Detectives are likely to speak with Andrew's former protection officers. Police have seized potential evidence in a raid of Andrew's former home at Royal Lodge, Windsor and his new property in Norfolk, which officers are now said to be 'carefully working through'. Detectives have identified 'multiple lines of inquiry' in what is being described as a 'significant investigation.' Senior officers are now speaking to the Crown Prosecution Service for 'early investigative advice' ahead of a potential prosecution. Ms Giuffre, pictured in 2019, took her own life in April 2025 at the age of 41 in her home near Perth, Western Australia They are also liaising with the US Department of Justice to formally request evidence following the release of millions of documents from the Epstein files. Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright has said: 'In terms of Epstein victims and survivors, we hope that anyone with relevant information will come forward. 'The investigation is continuing at pace. We do have some of our most experienced specialist investigators working on this investigation.' 'Our misconduct in public office investigation is ongoing and we are following all reasonable lines of enquiry. 'In any conversations with potential witnesses, our aim is to explain the scope of misconduct in public office, sensitively discuss any information they have and answer any questions or concerns. 'We are committed to conducting a thorough and careful investigation into misconduct in public office and will follow all reasonable lines of enquiry, in line with our responsibilities under the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act.' But yesterday criminal defence lawyer Marcus Johnstone, Managing Director of PCD Solicitors, who specialises in sexual offences, said: 'Today's news tells us their investigation is ongoing but we are still a long way away from a potential prosecution or proving offences in a court of law. 'Speaking to Virginia Giuffre's family is one thing but this is not the same as speaking to her first hand. 'Whether Mr Mountbatten Windsor will suffer an eventual penalty for sexual offences rather than simply the ignominy of this probe and this further reputational damage remains to be seen.' A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: 'Our misconduct in public office investigation is ongoing. We cannot go into specifics of the investigation, but we are following all reasonable lines of enquiry.'
