(PTI)According to police, the incident took place on Monday night at a residential building. The woman, 31, returned home around 9:45 pm but found the apartment locked from inside. Despite repeated attempts, her husband did not respond, HT reported earlier. She then sought help from neighbours and the building’s security staff. When they managed to access the apartment, her 32-year-old husband was found dead inside. Police said within minutes of witnessing the scene, the woman allegedly rushed out and jumped from the 17th floor of the apartment building, leading to her instant death. “We recovered a suicide note from the husband in which he mentioned depression and marital discord. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after post-mortem examination,” the inspector said. The bodies were handed over to the family members on Tuesday, police said. “The couple were childhood friends and got married in 2024 without informing their family members,” the inspector added. Reportedly, the couple was originally from Siddipet in Telangana and both worked as tech professionals in separate private firms in Bengaluru. Police said the husband left behind a suicide note in which he pointed to job loss and rising anxiety as key reasons behind his decision, according to a report by The Times of India. He had previously worked in the United States with an annual package of around ₹80 lakh. He had also bought a small house in the US and built another home in Telangana for his family. However, he lost his job due to AI-related factors, which deeply affected him. His distress grew as he struggled to find another job, although his family and wife remained supportive, the report further added. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths, including the sequence of events and the factors that may have contributed to the incident. “We have registered two separate cases of unnatural death. Prima facie, it appears that the husband died by suicide, and the wife, in a state of shock, took the extreme step shortly after,” the inspector said.
