By LUKE AUGUSTUS, ASSISTANT SPORTS EDITOR Published: 22:22, 10 July 2026 | Updated: 01:06, 11 July 2026 England were shown around Inter Miami's training facilities by David Beckham as Thomas Tuchel's side continue preparations for Saturday's World Cup quarter-final clash with Norway. England flew from their Kansas City base to Florida on Friday and immediately headed to Fort Lauderdale for their final training session. The Three Lions take on their Scandinavian opponents in Miami (10pm, BST) with a place against either current champions Argentina or Switzerland awaiting in the semi-finals on Wednesday. And ahead of the quarter-final showdown, England enjoyed a training session at Inter Miami's base - with the MLS club co-owned by Beckham. Former England captain Beckham, who won 115 caps for his country - with 58 of those as skipper, enjoyed a chat with current successor Harry Kane before training. ‘He just wished us luck,' Kane revealed. 'After most games he messages me and we stay in touch. He was there to support us. It was good to catch up with him. He’s an England legend. Hopefully we can do him proud tomorrow.’ When the session started, Beckham watched on from the sidelines alongside two of his sons Romeo and Cruz. Another person onlooking was injured midfielder Jordan Henderson who had his left arm in a cast. The 36-year-old has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup after breaking his wrist in a freak accident in the aftermath of England's 3-2 last-16 victory in the last 16. On Friday he was seen sat with England head coach Thomas Tuchel and members of the backroom staff as his team-mates were put through their paces. There was good news though, as Marc Guehi, Reece James and Declan Rice - who were all absent from Wednesday’s session at Swope Soccer Village as they worked on individual programmes - were all back in action with the rest of the group. One player who Tuchel can't call upon on Saturday, aside from Henderson, is defender Jarell Quansah after he was sent off in the second half against Mexico and has subsequently incurred a two-match ban from FIFA. The England boss said he has received no explanation as to why FIFA handed his player the severe punishment, in light of their controversial decision to suspend US striker Folarin Balogun's ban after an intervention from Donald Trump. Jordan Henderson was another onlooker during England training after breaking his left wrist England used Inter Miami's training base ahead of their World Cup quarter-final vs Norway ‘I haven’t had an explanation,’ he said. Following the epic win in the Azteca, which saw VAR intervene to hand the hosts a penalty and send Quansah off, Tuchel lambasted the standard of refereeing at the World Cup. ‘It’s not good enough,’ he said. “He [the referee] can send any team out in any moment. It’s just not good enough. It’s just erratic, it’s just unreliable in matches. Now we have two fourth officials who just scream at you if you put one foot out of a coaching zone. It’s just not good enough.' Quansah was given a red card after a VAR review while Harry Kane gave away a penalty after another review. England subsequently raised similar concerns to those brought forward by the Americans when they, with the assistance of a call from President Trump to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, managed to have the one-match ban handed to striker Folarin Balogun suspended for a year. However, FIFA decided to give Quansah an extended, two-match ban. The governing body has declined to give an explanation when asked by Daily Mail Sport, which we pointed out in the question to Tuchel. Following Tuchel's answer the FIFA press officer read out the email address of their media office (which Daily Mail Sport had messaged twice).
