England kick off tonight against Norway at 10pm, with victory setting up a semi-final between either Argentina or Switzerland.
Murphy called on England to adopt the attitude they displayed against Mexico in their last-16 contest and apply it tonight.
Speaking exclusively to GB News with BetWright football betting, Murphy said: "The resilience and character were there for everyone to see, but the thing I liked most was their attitude to go and try to win the game.
TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour Say"They weren't pragmatic. They didn't ease themselves into it and see how things developed. They went after Mexico from the outset and got themselves 2-0 up.
"That says a lot about what Thomas Tuchel is transmitting to this group. It was almost like: 'If we're going to lose, we're going to lose having a go.'
"They got men in the box, they attacked, and they tried to win the game."
Murphy praised the mentality shown by England from the first whistle and how this will put them in a "really good stead".

Commenting on the upcoming clash against Norway, the former Liverpool midfielder believes it will be a "brilliant game" and backs an England win.
He said: "I know the players and Tuchel won't say it publicly, but there'll be a quiet confidence in that camp.
"There'll also be a bit of happiness that Norway beat Brazil because, on their day, Brazil probably have more firepower.
"I actually think England will win comfortably. My prediction is 3-1."
When asked if he thinks England can go all the way and win the World Cup, Murphy told the People's Channel: "Absolutely. I didn't think that before the tournament because of the heat, the travelling and the quality of the other teams.
"But now I can see the confidence growing. There's a resilience and togetherness about this group that you need to win tournaments.
"As I see it now, I think England will get to the final.
"Argentina have shown in the last two games that they're vulnerable defensively and I think England can beat them.
"Then, if it's France or Spain in the final, when you've got 22 top-quality players on the pitch, it often comes down to who performs on the day.
"France would be difficult, Spain would be difficult, but I genuinely think England can get there."
Tuchel confirmed that everyone except Jordan Henderson is available for tonight's game, with a near-full-strength Three Lions side anticipated to be fielded.
