Crystal Palace legend John Salako speaks with GB News as Eagles poised to claim Conference League glory
Crystal Palace legend John Salako has spoken to GB News as the Eagles prepare to take on Spanish club Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League this evening.
The former England and Palace star said he and fellow fans of the south London club had been in “dreamland” after an unprecedented trophy haul over the past 12 months.
Last season, the Eagles beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup and vanquished then-Premier League champions Liverpool in the Community Shield.
It led them to take on their first European campaign since the 1990s, which Salako said had been “absolutely magical”.
“We're going to go into this final tonight, and we're going to smash it, and we're going to win it,” he declared, predicting a 3-1 triumph.
However, the former winger shared that there was a sense of “heartbreak” about the period, with manager Oliver Glasner set to leave the club.
“I think he goes and wins three trophies in 12 months, we'll build him a statue and send him off into the sunset with bleeding hearts,” Solako said.
